Which front door on 1950s ex-council house?

Please help me choose between this:

www.vufold.co.uk/external-front-doors/wooden-front-doors/stockholm/stockholm-oak-762mm

Or something like this:

Or any other suggestions that won't look OTT or pretentious on an unremarkable looking house.

The internal doors are all really nice quality oak and glass.

Second one for me. It looks more in keeping with the house style The first one says "office" ( or "dentist")!

WhereIsBebèsChambre · 30/12/2023 20:15

I definitely prefer the green one! I think the other one would date quickly.

Redshoeblueshoe · 30/12/2023 20:19

I like the green one too

BlueRaspberry7 · 30/12/2023 20:20

Lol at office or dentist!! DH also thinks the first one looks corporate

We have the first one in our corridors at work. 2nd one is better but a bit twee unless you have a country cottage.

ChevyCamaro · 30/12/2023 20:24

2nd. First is hideous tbh and already really dated( although at least it's not grey...)

Zephyry · 30/12/2023 20:25

Second one absolutely

Tara336 · 30/12/2023 20:28

Second one, I work for a window company and see some terrible choices that don't look right on the property. Make sure you get a good quality door and be careful of your colour choice as the sun can damage the darker colours over time if its south facing (and poor quality)

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 30/12/2023 20:29

This is a imo nicer version of the first one - not so corporate?https://images.app.goo.gl/YkDg6NR2bUkjiUHo8

WashItTomorrow · 30/12/2023 20:32

Second one.

Fleetheart · 30/12/2023 20:33

Yet another vote for the 2nd.

I think the first would be good if you were aiming for a look of “couldn’t be further from the right thing if it tried”😂

Sorethroatandearache · 30/12/2023 20:41

Second one is ideal for your property and much the nicer one.

First one is way out of keeping - I am seeing them a lot but think they are awful on anything except a new build.

menopausalmare · 30/12/2023 20:42

Definitely the second. The first would look wrong for the age of the house.

Tawlk · 30/12/2023 20:43

I’m not a fan of the first one and I think it will age badly, second one is really nice and in keeping with the facade of the building.

BlueRaspberry7 · 30/12/2023 20:46

@Fleetheart what a lovely entrance!

Second by a country mile.

A local Victorian rectory with beautiful features has been bought by a developer. They've ripped out the soul and the fetid cherry on top of a pile of ennui, is a grey door just like your first link. It makes me want to weep.

ScarlettDarling · 30/12/2023 20:47

Definitely the second one. My front door is similar, I love the colour.

BlueRaspberry7 · 30/12/2023 20:52

Green door is the hands down winner then.

And just change the half side panel next to it for glass that matches the door glass?

The 2nd one. The 1st one looks pretentious.

SunflowerSeeds123 · 30/12/2023 20:57

My Nan had a 1950s house. The second one reminds me of her front door. I'm a traditionalist, I think the second one is more "in keeping" with the period of your home.

countdowntomexico · 30/12/2023 20:59

1st is horrid

FuzzyPuffling · 30/12/2023 21:15

I have a light green.door too.

Ahh Fuzzy now I know where you live I'll be round for a cuppa

AllAroundMyCat · 30/12/2023 21:26

The second one.
The first looks like an office door.
