It's nice someone knows what they like but nothing goes - I am not a fan of matchy matchy home decor style but it is nice not to have all the element of your home decor fighting each other or attention!

The modern wood panelling jars with the chalk painted floorboards and the floral wall paper. The flouncy bed frames and elaborate light fittings clash with the chalk painted and up cycled furniture. The faux Morrocan floor tiles go with nothing and the bathrooms are too large for metro tiles.

The wall paper is not my taste but I like a bold choice. It just gets drowned out by everything else. And what is going on with the faux brick wallpaper on the chimney breast?

it's a darling little house. but the interior decor has given me a headache. I would rip it all off and redo everything in a neutral colours.

Little?

That is the point of it all though.

I actually really like some of the rooms, which stand well on their own, although some rooms are a migraine waiting to happen (really hate the sitting room). But I do like the general clashiness. It's a gorgeous house in any case and the more OTT decor and wallpaper could easily be rectified by the new owners.

NashvilleQueen · 09/12/2023 12:35

I actively dislike the distressed panelling but the rest is fairly well done.

LadyGeorginaSmythe · 09/12/2023 12:43

I like it. My house is so dull, but my husband would literally have every room painted white. He hates colour and hates decorating. I think if it was just me and the kids we'd live in a far more cheery home!
Some elements of the house are a bit much, but I'd love to brave and have an eye for what works and how to put colours and patterns together.

I am a maximalist but this is not really my style, it’s like Cath Kidston interiors threw up. Still would rather see this than grey or beige, though.

Cosywintertime · 09/12/2023 13:03

It’s a bit too gaudy for my taste to be fair, but am always impressed by someone who does what they wish and goes for it. I’d have to have it redecorated personally.

RobinGet · 09/12/2023 13:19

@Slushynana That’s a lot of house for the money, when you consider how much a 3 bed semi in other parts of the country would cost. It’s a beautiful house.

Ellmau · 09/12/2023 18:15

Some of it's lovely, and the whole thing is very individual and looks beautifully finished. I feel a bit sad to think the new owners will probably whitewash everything. I hope it's not a divorce or otherwise forced sale, it's so clearly a labour of love.

I really love the kitchen floor.

I don't like the wall by the stairs, or the brick effect, and the garden looks tiny.

NeonSoda · 09/12/2023 21:34

That is diy goals!

romatheroamer · 10/12/2023 07:02

I like it....partly a reaction to present home before we decorated which was white, white, white with no pictures like an office or doctor's surgery.

NoCloudsAllowed · 10/12/2023 07:53

That fire thing in the garden looks like a wartime pillbox! I'd keep thinking I saw a rifle sticking out.

The house is fine though. Not to everyone's taste but so what?

madaboutmad · 10/12/2023 08:02

They have the same sofas as my 80 year old mum.. who was a fashion designer!

I quite like it in places, but would imagine that once you strip out their furniture and pictures, it falls a bit flat.

piscofrisco · 10/12/2023 08:06

I like the bathrooms and the bedrooms aren't bad.
