Decisions, decision - Dorchester, Weymouth or Poole??

We are moving to Dorset later this year. We originally wanted to move to Dorchester - good schools, lovely small town - and then we saw a gorgeous house in Radipole, Weymouth. Not sure about traffic, proposed bypass near to house and schools though. Where would do go and why? What do you think of Poole and Bournemouth??

No, I haven't even been to Wimborne. What is it like?

Think it might be a bit quiet for you, though I know quite a few people who have moved down from London in the last few years and really love it here.

It's a market town, currently arguing over whether to build a Waitrose on the cricket ground. Small theatre/cinema, sports centre, , hospital, restaurants & cafes, pretty strong sense of community, arts centre with lots of workshops for children in the holidays. Fair range of shops in the town centre . Has a market on Fri - Sunday. Good farm shops close by at the Blueberry Farm and Honeybrook farm.

Schools are the three tier system and there are some really excellent first schools (nervously waiting to hear where DS is going, hopefully letter here tomorrow). Two middle schools, very impressed with the one I looked round recently. Those two and one in Cranborne feed into the Upper School which is going to be rebuilt next year. Some children go off the the Grammars in Poole. DS is currently going to the world's best nursery on a farm nearby. DD has dyspraxia and has been very lucky with the support she has received from both school and health professionals.

Sounds lovely. My list appears to be getting longer rather than shorter .

DH has just been offered a job in Dorchester, do these recommendation still stand?

We have 2 DD's 7 & 4, and would be moving from a village in Gloucestershire, any thoughts?

My dh is from Wimbourne, his family are still there it is a nice town,rural but with a bit ofsomething going on iyswim.

Where is the social housing in Weymouth? Is it ok or bad reputation?
