for example a Tesco express opening on the corner

If the world's largest sinkhole opened up and swallowed the lot of it.

fridaynight1 · 20/10/2023 23:46

No neighbours.

TootiiFrootii · 21/10/2023 00:03

If the narrow road was made one-way only for cars and part of it was turned into a footpath wide enough for a wheelchair.

pinkdelight · 21/10/2023 00:33

Being just around the corner so the bus wouldn't go past and make the house shake. Otherwise it's perfect!

SageRosemary · 21/10/2023 00:58

Our location is pretty perfect. Close walking distance to bus stops, schools, uni, pharmacy, hospitals, shopping centre

@mrsunaz Our nearest corner shop is a Tesco Express, but, as we are in Ireland I'd have far preferred a SuperValu or Centra
@KievLoverTwo we don't have a sinkhole but we do have one problematic recurrent pothole which I've reported to our council several times, they have done what looks like a decent job of filling it in .... several times!
@fridaynight1 very unMumsnetty here but our neighbours are lovely
@TootiiFrootii I hear you, that's tough. We got parking limited to one side of our road only which helps to keep the footpaths clear at both sides and allows access for bin trucks and emergency services.
@pinkdelight we are fortunate enough to live around the corner from the main road, only have to worry about helicopters here

We could do with a decent middle of the road restaurant (we have a couple of chains and one very posh restaurant, too posh) and a hairdresser and a swimming pool and a cinema and someone to police the roads and keep the idiot cyclists off the footpaths by the main roads

An Aldi within 5mins walk plus an underground line into central London. 🌹

thernum · 21/10/2023 01:30

I love our zone 2 London location but a full refurb of the tube station including step-free access and enough capacity to meet demand would make it perfect.

My neighbours being abducted by aliens. I hate them and how they’ve made me a bad person because I frequent wish terrible things upon them. I don’t want anything really terrible to happen, but they’re not going anywhere unfortunately. So, if they could just vanish my home would be perfect.

echt · 21/10/2023 03:13

No neighbours. They're pretty much all OK as people , but since I moved here 10+years ago, there hasn't been year when extensive demolitions/renovations haven't been happening - eight within 100 yards of my house. I'm in Australia, where it is far more common to demolish and start over.

Oh and neurotic COVID-purchased dogs who have separation anxiety that their feckless owners couldn't give a fuck about because they're not there to hear the poor mutts' piteous barking and howling. Nine now I've counted it up.

Twiglets1 · 21/10/2023 07:03

We live at the top of a big hill and I’m fed up of climbing the bastard thing all the time. My husband says it’s good exercise 🙄

Papyrophile · 21/10/2023 16:32

The house and view are perfect. But I would change the location to somewhere north of Bristol.

pipindressup · 21/10/2023 16:37

A kick up the arse at the local secondary school. Nothing major wrong we are in a very nice area and nice kids etc. But it's just not stretching them enough. Basic lack of money , been Ofsted outstanding for over 10 years without any inspection and seems to have dropped the ball. The headteacher is rather wet.
If that was sorted I would be very happy ( as would everyone here).

cptartapp · 21/10/2023 16:39

Turn it 180 degrees so we get the bigger garden and the sun at the rear.

SoOpenitsbrainshavefallenout · 21/10/2023 16:40

A functioning bus stop with buses leaving every half hour

Somewhatchallenging · 21/10/2023 16:42

Nothing, really. Location is perfect. But I’d like to look out on a tree or two instead of the houses and flats opposite.

muddyford · 21/10/2023 16:45

If it was 300 miles north-east of where it is now.

Tara24 · 21/10/2023 16:47

If the idiot next door didn't live there. He rents though so hopefully he will move at some point. There tends to be a high turnover of tenants.

Plinkplonkplinkplonk123 · 21/10/2023 16:51

If they sorted the drainage out on the main roads (live in a village four exits all get flooded and we're unable to exit every time its heavy rain).
A cafe - we have a very small village shop/post office that's it.

SkyFullofStars1975 · 21/10/2023 16:54

I love our house, we've raised our family here, it's in a quiet village... but our NDN's are the bane of our lives. They moved out from a city, and are the sort of people who built a bar in the front garden during lockdown so they could entertain. He's got a voice like Dom Joly and this 3 sided bar acts as an amplifier when he's out there drinking all weekend. I'm tempted to aim a firework at it for Guy Fawkes. And they've got some sort of mutant XL bully/bulldog cross that barks like it's trying to wake Satan from a deep slumber.

I hate the fuckers.

LesLavandes · 21/10/2023 16:57

I would like to be closer to a mainline station

TitInATrance · 21/10/2023 16:58

Electric cars and buses - less noise and no more filthy exhaust fumes.
