Cleaner sprayed the flatscreen TV....

Iamnotastick · 04/10/2023 15:10

Help!

Cleaner has used a product to clean the flatscreen TV and now there are streaks that a microfibre cloth cannot budge off.

How do I fix this?! Husband is going to go fucking spare, its his pride and joy.

Get a proper screen cleaner And redo it

Istanbulnotconstantinople72 · 04/10/2023 15:12

Very diluted white vinegar? Husband needs to get a life if his pride and joy is a TV.

Goodgrief83 · 04/10/2023 15:13

Scary husband. Shudder at thought of being married to someone like this

I don't think this is fair. Televisions are expensive. I'd be pretty fucking hacked off if the cleaner damaged mine (even though it's not worth much now, but it would cost me a lot to replace). I doubt he's going to turn on his wife or the cleaner and beat them, but he may well be upset and perhaps his wife doesn't want to see him upset?

He can fix it then?

Iamnotastick · 04/10/2023 15:19

Jesus christ calm down, no need to leave the bastard. It is a brand new and expensive TV. And he will fix it, I am just trying to see if theres anything I can do now!

Thanks for the helpful responses - have just ordered a proper screen cleaner. Too nervy to try vinegar!

RowcheRascal · 04/10/2023 15:20

do it yerself in future.

I mean, obviously I will just ask her not to touch the TV in future.

I suppose your view on “fucking spare” and mine is somewhat different

Good luck Op!

Very minimally damp corner of a soft micro fibre cloth worked here, when the cleaner did the same thing to our new tv. He's now fully trained to just dust it!

Thank you! Will crack a new cloth out just in case theres any residue on it

An E-cloth would sort this out. They are amazing for glass. Like a microfibre cloth but a lot finer. I use them for a perfect finish on glass as well as chrome fixings. You can buy on EBay and Amazon.

Why is that funny? Its a really nice TV, we watch movies and he uses it for gaming. We saved up for this TV to buy a decent one. Dont be a dick.

Ahh i didnt realise you used it for movies and gaming... i'm really sorry to hear about your loss. Have you thought of reporting this to the police?

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 04/10/2023 15:34

Flat tv need specialist products. (So a IT technician informed me). But you can try spectacle (glasses) cleaner if you have any with a lens cloth as ipppsed to a micro fibre cloth.
Do not use windowlene etc.

Tdcp · 04/10/2023 15:39

I don't get why people are being so dickish here! It doesn't matter if it's a tv or a car or a table, the OP is looking for advice on how to fix some damage, stop being pricks about it just because it's a tv and gaming was mentioned.

Thank you!

I know OLED screens have a coating that some cleaners can take off, hence my mild panic.

Window and glass cleaner every time 😁

Entirely possible.

I'm just surprised by how nasty people are being on this thread. Perhaps it's jealousy that the OP can afford a new TV and a cleaner. I can't think what else would trigger such snide comments. Perhaps I just forgot to put my cactus lined underwear on this morning and am therefore not feeling quite as prickly as everyone else.

Ohdearwhatnow4 · 04/10/2023 15:48

I'd be pissed off also, accidents happen but why would someone spray a product on a tv in the first place?

Marblessolveeverything · 04/10/2023 15:50

Just a word of caution - before you try anything pop on the TV brand website and check out what they recommend - just in case!!

Hopefully there will be a list of options - fingers crossed.
