Nice parquet flooring in photo 4, hidden under all the stuff. It could be a nice house, if it was less cluttered

Oiyouoverthere · 16/09/2023 12:04

Why wouldn't it? Reasonable sized rooms, nice little garden, off road parking and a good price for the location.

Most people can see past decoration and clutter.

I'd be more much, much more likely to buy a house in that state than one that's 'done'.

Thebigblueballoon · 16/09/2023 12:08

I would pay good money to have seen the estate agent’s face when they rocked up to photograph the place.

Oioicaptain · 16/09/2023 12:29

One only has to look at that decor, the teddy bears and knife rack to know that there are bodies under the patio!

TheDaphne · 16/09/2023 12:35

And yet it sold, in a challenging market.

Maybe some food for thought there for the people who genuinely believe you need to ruthlessly declutter, redecorate, remove all personal items, ‘stage’ your house within an inch of its life, down to the fresh flowers, air freshener, smell of fresh coffee, those elaborately-laid show home dining tables etc.

I don’t know the area or how it prices with regard to similar houses in the vicinity, but this one sold despite bad photos, hoarding-level clutter and the fact that nothing has been done to ‘stage’ it.

Isittimetoretire · 16/09/2023 14:13

I struggle with clutter so those pictures give me anxiety!! I would worry about what dirty pests would be lurking under all this.

I absolutely couldn't buy it, but agree the person who bought it will probably turn it into something amazing and make money from it.

I'd love to see some "after" pictures

HalfMoonSpectacles · 16/09/2023 14:56

Our house had purple shag pile carpet throughout, nasty wallpaper, artex ceilings and massive 3 piece suites.

It also had 4 good bedrooms, a great garden and loads of potential.

If it had been all done up it would have been £100k more so for us it was a no brainer!

BruceAndNosh · 16/09/2023 14:57

The conveyancer would have to put a watertight clause - with severe penalties - to ensure all vendors STUFF went with them!

Ivebeentogeorgia · 16/09/2023 15:19

Oblomov23 · 16/09/2023 11:38

Eh? I'd buy it. It's got potential. A few visits to the tip/dump and I'd be ready to give it a good clean and then strip wallpaper, redecorate, paint it white, easy.

So you’d keep the floor plan as it is?

Sweatybettysboobs · 16/09/2023 15:37

Why do they need so many kitchen knives?
This place makes my teeth itch

Sweatybettysboobs · 16/09/2023 15:40

Wheres Stacey Solomon when you need her?
Staaace! 😆

Violinist64 · 16/09/2023 18:12

I believe it is what is called a maximalist house aka a hoarder’s house. However, it is a decent property with lots to offer once a good skip or three has been employed.

cobden28 · 16/09/2023 18:16

The interior is awfully cluttered and the decor is somewhat dated. If I was the vendor, I'd have to consider decluttering before putting the house onthe market as buyers can't get a true idea of the space in the house with all that STUFF in there.

Gowlett · 16/09/2023 18:18

The office chairs, the lighting features, the Teddy bears…

Comedycook · 16/09/2023 18:42

I'm not surprised it sold. It's a doer upper and has loads of space by the looks of it and huge potential.

fiddlesticksandotherwords · 16/09/2023 18:50

That's cheap for a 4-bedroomed house in Bedford, and it would look totally different once empty anyway.

Bargain.

THisbackwithavengeance · 16/09/2023 19:30

I like the knife collection in the kitchen!

But it's a nice house and cheap as chips for the area. It will look fab once the crap has been cleared and it's been decorated. I'm not surprised it sold.

thelinkisdead · 16/09/2023 19:33

The floorplan looks like the blueprint for a nuclear reactor 😂

bellac11 · 16/09/2023 19:44

Someone has got themselves a bargain there

It amazes me that people cant look past clutter and bad decor

YoongiMarryMe · 16/09/2023 19:45

What happens if someone uses the big bathroom (locking both doors, naturally) and then forgets to unlock the door into Bedroom 4? You’ve just gone for a wee nap and wake to being trapped! Oh wait, you can climb through the window into Bedroom 1. 😆

I can see past the clutter no problem but that upstairs layout is way off putting.

bellac11 · 16/09/2023 19:49

Ivebeentogeorgia · 16/09/2023 15:19

So you’d keep the floor plan as it is?

Even if you wanted the upstairs changed, it simply takes a stud wall in bedroom 1 to make a corridor to the 4th bedroom and a stud wall in between the bathrooms to make them separate. Not a huge amount of work given that you need to completely strip it to redecorate and recarpet anyway

NorthernLady91 · 17/09/2023 10:00

I think it's wrong to write a post about this house. The occupants may be vulnerable and it will be upsetting for them or family members who may see this post. I would buy this house if the location and size was right for me.

Edited

Its on a public website (rightmove)

lljkk · 17/09/2023 10:17

Meh, it's neither filthy nor in terrible state of repair. I've seen plenty of properties like that on Rightmove. It's merely cluttered & untidy, like most homes are most of the time. Completely ordinary.
