Dulux Timeless looks yellow in my house.

Hi everyone.

I live in a new build which currently has magnolia walls and we haven't painted it in 10 years.

We have finally got round to decorating and I want to redo the whole house in a warm white colour. The ceilings and woodwork will be in brilliant white.

After reading reviews on here I was convinced that the colour I wanted was Dulux Timeless but when I've tried it on the walls in my house (in several different rooms) it looks cream and has a slight yellow undertone to it.

Because I've been looking at magnolia for the past 10 years I want to get away from anything yellow looking. I also don't want anything grey looking.

Can anyone recommend a nice crisp white that has a warm undertone to it without it looking yellow or grey?

Thanks in advance.

I have Dulux Roman White in my kitchen. It's a kind of slightly brown/peach white. Definitely warm.

Maybe another coat of timeless?

Definitely white cotton, as suggested. I'm guessing your house is quite bright, this will bring out the yellow tones in paint which may otherwise look whiter in darker/nf facing rooms.

If you’re going to redecorate,
get some F&B samples, I find their colours much more naice.
You can then go to a decorators place like Brewers and they’ll make whatever colour but in Dulux.

Another vote for Jasmine White. I've used it in two homes now.

Same here

@Mavan1984
How did you get on with the testers?
Have you chosen a white?

Mavan1984 · 05/08/2023 23:55

Hi everyone,

I went and got some testers yesterday and I was stuck between jasmin white or white cotton. However after trying them in multiple rooms I decided to go for the jasmin white.

I needed to start painting yesterday so when I went to buy the jasmin white they didn't have any at my local diy shop and white cotton was also out of stock! Therefore by default I had to get Timeless.

I put one coat on last night and another coat on today and if I'm honest it looks really nice and fresh. Not as yellow as it looked when I did the patch tests.

Thanks for your input everyone. I'm going to be painting a few other rooms in the house so will use jasmin white in another room.
