Not disclosing pregnancy on mortgage application

We are about to submit a mortgage application and I'm in a panic that I’m 5 months pregnant with my second child and haven’t disclosed the pregnancy! I know they’re not allowed to ask and my circumstances financially won’t change because I’ll receive full pay for all the time I’m off.

Should I tell them last minute and risk the mortgage or should I not disclose and wear baggy Clothes when we meet the mortgage advisor?

Yeah keep it zipped. I remember trying to hide my increasing bump from the Solicitor whenever I had to sign documents etc just in case they let slip to the mortgage company somehow

We have to. It's not a choice - we act for the lender too.

Yes don't tell Solicitor that you are pregnant either as they act on the banks behalf as well as yours they should inform them if you tell them.

There's no logic to it sometimes.
I was pregnant and on a temporary contract. I did not disclose either and it wasn't checked.
You could leave your job the day after a successful mortgage application.
Do not disclose and look outraged if they ask!

Nothing is definite until it's born so no.

I did disclose my pregnancy and "The baby isn’t here yet, sadly being pregnant doesn’t always guarantee a baby" was exactly the bank's response - they didn't take it into account.

This was the exact response we got when remortgaging and borrowing more six years ago when I was pregnant with my first.

OP - do not disclose because you haven’t been asked to disclose!

I was 3m pregnant when we made our mortgage application and the form clearly asked if we had any “financial dependents under the age of 18”, and no, I didn’t.

We applied very early for our mortgage and when it came to actually ‘closing’, I had given birth. Our broker called and said the mortgage company wanted to refresh the application as doing so (for various reasons I won’t go into) could save us a couple of grand. I said no thank you, I’ve given birth and my payslips will show I’m on maternity leave. Tell them we don’t want to save the money and to process the application as is right now.

I was VERY nervous and had a long chat with the broker who, long story short, said what we were doing was totally fine as the mortgage application has to be factual at the time of application only. Which it was !

Has anyone been charged with fraud for not disclosing pregnancy on mortgage application?
