Live in detached house, next door neighbour who I never see and her older son garden is right next to ours.... We share a fence and you can see right into their garden from any of our windows upstairs. They Have large dogs.. Not sure how many as don't really see them maybe 3-4. Dogs arent a bother really... Bark occasionally but not excessively. Issue I have is the amount of dog poo all over their garden .... Its disgusting!!!! What can I do about it? They aren't approachable neighbours and don't want to create an issue. Am not talking 3/4 turds but around 40-50. I actually can't eat sometimes thinking about it... And when I open curtains upstairs first thing I see is the poo mountain

How horrible. If you can smell it, or if it’s causing other problems, definitely contact your local council as it must be a hygiene issue? There seems to be a big increase in the amount of dog poo left on streets where I live, selfish dog owners make me so furious. If you don’t want to pick up dog poo, don’t have a dog.

Thanks guys, I think I might catch one of the neighbours when they are out and about and maybe say that am worried about vermin/infestations and smell. I know there's not a lot I can do. If that doesn't work ill go down environmental health route........ Although might start getting poos sent through letterbox if I did that 😂

Christ you’ve got the whole road under surveillance, “nice and clean” is that you hyacinth?

😂no just don't like neighbours with shit all over their garden which probably stinks and have flies all over.

You can't force someone to do their gardening.

Perhaps they have disabilities or are having a hard time of it and walking all those dogs isn't an option.

I don't really think you can do anything about it unless it's causing you an issue - vermin or fly infestations, for example.

You will have to discipline yourself to stop looking, and be thankful they are not four very yappy, annoying buggers.

Well actually you can. If the garden is overgrown there is legislation in place whereby they will be forced to take action or the council will do it and fine them.
As for the poo- is it rented? Speak to the landlord/agent of known or the council. It’s a health hazard. It will smell too, especially in summer.

The only thing is, they’re bound to know it’s you.

But you don’t like the neighbours over the road either? 😆😆😆😆

Always one of you in every neighbourhood!

So much cleaner than others….. yeah right!

Don’t look out of your upstairs window into their garden…. Problem solved.

Why are you sticking up for the neighbours? Is your garden full of dog shit,?

Onthelow · 07/07/2023 13:33

I had this with previous neighbours and it definitely did smell and I had visitors comment on it. It was embarrassing but I never had the confidence to tell them (they and their dogs were a bit scary.)

Onthelow · 07/07/2023 13:33

They did move out eventually but I don’t know if you can rely on that.

Nope just normal clean.

And checking up on everyone else! Sticky beaking!!

CellophaneFlower · 07/07/2023 13:51

I can't imagine how it wouldn't pong. I back onto a field that has a dog poo bin. In the height of summer when the wind blows the right way, it stinks! I'd assume most are bagged and the bin has a lid too.

I'd also lie and say it smells but approach them really tactfully, basically kill them with kindness. Hopefully this will result in them being reasonable, rather than getting their backs up.

No, is your nose stuck to the window? Sticky beaking?

What about dog shit, no?

about nasty interfering neighbours who think they’re better than others? Yeah maybe!

Beanscene · 07/07/2023 14:14

@Blinkblank@Blinkblank are you OK?

I haven't said anything to my neighbours.

In going to judge people who clean up after their oers though. My nose is not stuck to the window but I'm not blind and I have to look out of windows especially when cleaning my dogs slavour off of the windows.

VWFF · 07/07/2023 14:29

Don't clean up after their pets

DRS1970 · 07/07/2023 14:33

Report it to your local environmental health department.

ironorchids · 07/07/2023 14:35

That much faeces is a biohazard. Definitely report it to the council. Whether you can smell it or not, that amount of it increases the risk of the spread of disease so much that it's a concern for any neighbour.

DemonicCaveMaggot · 07/07/2023 14:39

I feel sorry for the dogs, it can't be nice for them having to run around in it.

I bet their grass is nice and green once it has got through the initial die off.

mrsm43s · 07/07/2023 15:11

Get some of that privacy film, the stuff that looks like etched glass, pop it on your window so that the light still comes in but it blocks the view of next door's garden.

Carry on with your life without bothering about what may or may not be happening next door.

VWFF · 07/07/2023 15:19

Our window cleaner was asked to clean at a house like this and she moaned because he couldn't do some of the windows because of the dog mess. I think he told her to get a different window cleaner.

CremeEggThief · 07/07/2023 15:21

Nothing you can do about how other people choose to live, OP.
