At what point did you stop browsing Rightmove?

We have recently had an offer accepted on a house, which we like and will, with quite a lot of work, make a great home.

However, I would far rather pay a bit more and move into something that is already 'done'. The trouble is that our criteria (period, certain amount of rooms, off street parking, good location, etc) means that virtually nothing like this has come up in the 3 months we've been looking. The house we've offered on will eventually give us all of that, but cost us £35,000 or more to get there.

I'm sure we will love the house we've offered on, but FOMO keeps me scrolling on RM. At what point did you say, sod it, stop looking 'just in case', because it's driving me mad!

Never.

Gabbies · 05/06/2023 15:02

Wait some people stop looking at rightmove? 🤯

5 years since we moved in and I still scout out houses hahah

MMorales · 05/06/2023 15:03

We moved into our house last year.

I'm still browsing Rightmove

riotlady · 05/06/2023 15:04

Completed on my house a year ago, still browse rightmove!

TobiasForgesContactLense · 05/06/2023 15:06

I browse RightMove and have absolutely no intention of moving.

ginghamstarfish · 05/06/2023 15:06

Never. Supposed to exchange on 20th June but can't trust sellers any more after being let down twice ( at great fecking expense).

TeenLifeMum · 05/06/2023 16:12

I moved 6 years ago and still look. Actually haven’t ever come across the “perfect” house… well, there’s one I love at the moment but it’s £725k and ours has a worth £400k so not exactly comparable or affordable 😆

The last 6 years have told me that no house is perfect. You choose one and make it yours.

AlwaysPlayingYellowCar · 05/06/2023 17:01

We’re in the buying process now and I need to stop looking but I can’t seem to help myself!

Starseeking · 05/06/2023 17:03

I completed in September last year after trying to buy for 15 months; I still browse Rightmove and have even set ip alerts for new areas since!

hettiethehare · 05/06/2023 17:04

We completed last December and I still look every day!

Bear2014 · 05/06/2023 17:10

I love a bit of rightmove. We're in the process of buying and selling, had offer accepted and accepted our offer about 8 weeks ago. Love the house we are buying but still curious as to what else is out there. Very glad we took the plunge though as the whole 'Spring rush' that was promised never happened and there have been very few new listings since then and none that would have been better.

Ambi · 05/06/2023 17:12

Like others, we moved in last year and I'm signed up to all the newsletter from onthemarket. I love a nosy on the local houses.

BarleySugars · 05/06/2023 17:12

I browse rightmove all the time for fun but stopped looking to buy when we'd had the offer accepted. I was at the end of my tether with the buying process and the house we got was not the first choice. However, no regrets, i came to love it once we moved in.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 05/06/2023 17:13

I'm always on Rightmove.

cissyandbessy · 05/06/2023 17:18

Once I'd had the offer accepted I still scrolled and did my own head in frankly but was worried it would fall though and I needed to know what was out there just in case. After the actual move had happened I made myself stop looking on RM for 1 year as I didn't want to feel any regret or FOMO about having done the wrong thing. I am an over thinker, and a big worrier. This was the way I could put all that to one side and just enjoy what I'd decided to buy. It did work tbh and I love my house.

longtompot · 05/06/2023 17:19

Bought our first place about 6 years ago, and looked every week to see if anything else came up that was comparable. It didn't. Still looking now, but that's just in case we win the lottery or Premium bonds😆

TokyoSushi · 05/06/2023 17:20

We moved in 2019, still looking...

Firkinhavinalaugh · 05/06/2023 17:20

This is our 14th year in the house. I still look to see what’s going on locally 🤣

Hiddendoor · 05/06/2023 17:33

Moved end of last year. I look every day just because I'm nosy!

I really don't want to move ever again so I'm not searching for a new place to live. Just pure nosiness.

InSpainTheRain · 05/06/2023 17:49

Never! I look at rightmove a couple of times a week. I have no intention of moving!

OUB1974 · 05/06/2023 17:51

I never really stopped from last time we moved 2 years ago. It's been quite good though as this time I have a really good idea of the property market here!

This time (had an offer accepted), I have deleted it from my phone. I have an occasional look just to keep an eye on things. I don't think anything better will come up though in our budget. There are a couple of minor compromises (smaller garden than I would have liked and only 1 bathroom), but if another came up with a big garden and extra bathroom we wouldn't be able to afford it anyway.

Your house sounds nice if you can get it how you want it. "Done" houses aren't that great...our current one has a brand new kitchen and it is so much not to our taste! I'm really looking forward to replacing our slightly shabby new one in a couple of years!

Giselletheunicorn · 05/06/2023 18:45

Still on Rightmove. (Bought our house 7 years ago...)

GoldLipstick · 05/06/2023 18:56

We moved into our home 3 years ago & as much as I enjoy living here, I don’t think it’s our forever home - I browse on Rightmove most days!

Stresssy · 05/06/2023 19:18

I visit RM more than I visit my friends 😂
