Rnh · 18/05/2023 15:33

I’ve recently been nominated to housing association for a new build property that isn’t ready yet the Greenwich council told me if the checks are ok they will be in contact with me however I received a email from the lettings team officer from the housing association yesterday explaining she tried to call and to email her back for the best time to call to discuss property.

the problem is I’m currently away in Egypt for 2 weeks been booked since December
, I did let the lettings team know before I went away to correspond with me via email untill the 30th of this month and I emailed her back to explain, I also said she can call me anytime and tried to call her but no answer.
I also said In my email I want the property.
but now I’m worried can will withdraw the offer because I’m away I’m so worried feel like crying. Has anyone got any advice please

She’ll have known you were abroad by the ring tone btw

Fruitful82 · 18/05/2023 15:41

Have you tried ringing her back??

@Fruitful82 how about actually reading posts instead of jumping from thread to thread being unpleasant?!?!

WhenTheBeeStings · 18/05/2023 15:43

Fruitful82 · 18/05/2023 15:41

It’s in the op. Yes, emailed and called.
You are being very unkind to someone stressing.

OP you won’t lose a house because you went on holiday. Try not to worry.

Deathbyfluffy · 18/05/2023 15:43

So the title is nonsense - it hasn't been withdrawn yet?

Goodoccasionallypoor · 18/05/2023 15:43

But it hasn't been withdrawn has it? Doesn't she just need to speak to you?

As logical as actually reading the OP, before making pointless bitchy comments?

Candymay · 18/05/2023 15:44

Why be spiteful?

is there an implication that anyone entitled to social housing should not be entitled to a holiday?

it’s really not the case.

op just keep trying to call the person is my advice. Day and night.

Fruitful82 · 18/05/2023 15:44

Read the op

she has not called back!!

Fruitful82 · 18/05/2023 15:46

She tried to call before she left to say email only

Goodoccasionallypoor · 18/05/2023 15:46

No, you're wrong.

SarahSmith2023 · 18/05/2023 15:46

@Rnh you need to calm down, you're jumping the gun. There's no reason to think it has been withdrawn. I'm absolutely no expert in the field, but I'm pretty sure that even living in social housing you're allowed to go on holiday 🤣.

Council tenants are allowed holidays, even abroad I believe.

OP, try not to stress. She might be ringing to confirm a move in date. You won't lose it because you went on holiday.

Is there anyone at home who can speak with them on your behalf

You MUST be ‘TuesandThursNero’ reincarnated. The same poster who I keep catching on people’s threads being an absolute dick. You really must hop off of the internet and get a life, this is pathetic now.

OP, there’s no need to keep it on the ‘lowdown’ that you’re on holiday. Even people who bid for council/HA’s are allowed a holiday.

I say this as someone who’s currently bidding and who’s friend recently got a HA property. The documents that they request really have to be sent asap. My friend placed a bid for a property and came second place. When she visited the flat, straight away the person who came first said that they wanted to take it. Only three days later did the HA get back to her and asked if she wanted it as the first person couldn’t provide a specific document.

Can you just email/call and say that you’re on holiday and will be back on X date in order to send all the required documents? You are interested in the flat so hopefully they’ll give some leeway. We’re Lambeth borough so hopefully this person is happy to wait somewhat. I think it’ll be fine, try not to stress!

Of course they are

And too right

but would you prioritise someone on a two week holiday abroad when we’re talking about people in serious need of housing? A single mother perhaps?

ItsBritneyBitchhhh · 18/05/2023 15:49

Or can anyone at home send you the required documents so you can forward on to the housing officer?

Stomacharmeleon · 18/05/2023 15:51

@Fruitful82 you have no idea of her banding/ how long she has been on the housing list or why?
So jog on.

For all you know OP is a single mother. Even they go on holiday occasionally.
Council tenants aren't all on benefits either. (FYI I am not a council tenant, just not spiteful.)

Fruitful82 · 18/05/2023 15:53

Fair point

Candymay · 18/05/2023 15:54

I know this is an anonymous forum and none of us know anything about each other. But I’m finding myself extremely curious about this fruitful82 poster.
i have an image in my mind.

@Fruitful82

I think it reads pretty clearly that op sent an email before she left and then sent an another email and tried to call after she got the message.

Regardless, what is your problem?
