Rnh · 18/05/2023 15:33

I’ve recently been nominated to housing association for a new build property that isn’t ready yet the Greenwich council told me if the checks are ok they will be in contact with me however I received a email from the lettings team officer from the housing association yesterday explaining she tried to call and to email her back for the best time to call to discuss property.

the problem is I’m currently away in Egypt for 2 weeks been booked since December
, I did let the lettings team know before I went away to correspond with me via email untill the 30th of this month and I emailed her back to explain, I also said she can call me anytime and tried to call her but no answer.
I also said In my email I want the property.
but now I’m worried can will withdraw the offer because I’m away I’m so worried feel like crying. Has anyone got any advice please

She did call. There was no answer but she has called. You were making out she hadn’t even tried.

Council tenants do have jobs you know, why shouldn't she be abroad on holiday.

You sound lovely!

Read the op

I think you need to re read the OP before making more of a fool of yourself

I know this is an anonymous forum and none of us know anything about each other. But I’m finding myself extremely curious about this fruitful82 poster.
i have an image in my mind.

They are EXTREMELY bad vibes. You know it’s something else when even a name change can’t save them. Just awful

@Fruitful82

I think it reads pretty clearly that op sent an email before she left and then sent an another email and tried to call after she got the message.

Regardless, what is your problem?

Yep

@Fruitful82 has misread and misunderstood in their excitement to be a twat. Awkward

Goodoccasionallypoor · 18/05/2023 16:10

I can't believe @Fruitful82 hasn't had the grace to leave and name change after her mistaken doggedness and is now scouring goggle to make op look bad.

What a piece of work.

TellySavalashairbrush · 18/05/2023 16:10

It won’t be a problem op. Enjoy your holiday and all the best with your house move .

Could you quote the bit where the OP states she's receiving benefits? It's ok I'm not busy I'll wait.

KateyCuckoo · 18/05/2023 16:13

HA tenant here, not on any benefits and enjoy holidays now and again. Dh and I both even work full time in fairly respectable jobs. Shocker!

Me too and on top of that we're off to Australia in August for 3 whole weeks.

Have a wonderful time!

And OP, I hope you are enjoying Egypt.

CatchYouOnTheFlippetyFlop · 18/05/2023 16:20

I’m guessing you’ve kept in on the lowdown that you’re on a fortnight’s holiday to Egypt?! 😂

I think you mean downlow. But why should she? Fucking hell. Should she walk round in sackcloth and ashes too?

TheShellBeach · 18/05/2023 16:31

Fruitful82 · 18/05/2023 15:49

Of course they are

And too right

but would you prioritise someone on a two week holiday abroad when we’re talking about people in serious need of housing? A single mother perhaps?

Maybe the OP is a single mother.

You need to get away from this idea that council tenants should be so grateful to be offered a property that they ought to cancel a holiday.

Jeez. Get off your high horse. DH and I live in a council house (sheltered housing) and we go on holiday.

We get PIP, too - I expect you're annoyed about that as well.

loislovesstewie · 18/05/2023 16:40

OP, they might want to talk to you for many, perfectly normal reasons, to check that your circumstances are the same as when you applied for example, or to arrange a viewing, or to tell you that the property won't be available until a certain date. I used to work in local authority housing and these were all the regular checks that we made. Despite what people think, applicants can forget to advise the l/a about significant changes which affect the application. We would also ask how the applicant was going to pay the rent, all sorts of things.
Just phone, leave a message and see what is going on.

lalalalalalaleeee · 18/05/2023 16:50

If it's housing association there is a good chance they are calling to arrange the affordability check. We had this with our new build.... we didn't move in until 8 weeks after we were offered it anyway as it wasn't ready.

Advicepl · 22/05/2023 20:36

We have been offered 1st on bidding CBL property for a house, received email to confirm 2 weeks ago, Council contacted us today after 2 weeks to tell us the landlord L&Q have withdrawn offer with no reason given, can you advise now the next stage, I will raise a complaint but would like to know if the landlord pulled out due to work needs doing in the property can we still be 1st refusal etc when it comes back to bidding?
has anyone been through this pls advise, really emotionally stressed!

Successstory82 · 02/06/2023 08:01

What happened oP? Did you get the property?

Kelsey22 · 19/08/2024 19:37

Any advice
was offered a council property on 31st July and was stated in email they do not expect it back before September due to doing remedial work I rang today as our current housing situation is getting worse and the lady on the phone was fairly rude I explained our current situation and was wondering if there was an update on the property and she said there’s no update but you was only offered it two weeks ago and can take 2-3 months I said we won’t be waiting 2 month we have been awarded the property due our current situation we can’t wait that long. Before any one comes at me i understand people waiting a lot longer than that but this is all new to me and never done this before so I am unsure of the steps I am just stressing know whether or not they can withdraw the offer because I said we can’t wait 3 months.
