Amazing 1960's Bond Villainesque House

This amazing house is for sale near me and it's the sort of house I would have dreamed of as a child in the late 60's. It reminds me of all those split level modern houses I used to see in films and I could even imagine Roger Moore coming face to face with a Bond villain in a house like this.

Everything is so well thought out, from the miles of fitted wardrobes to the massive downstairs laundry room. I think the price is a steal, although I imagine that the heating bills would be enormous.

Trying to persuade DH to go and have a look, if we bought I'd leave everything pretty much as it is, apart from the acres of awful green carpet.

I wouldn’t say that one has aged well.

I wouldn’t say that one has aged well.

I agree it looks a little unloved but the basic building and all the sixties features are in tact. Some well chosen pieces of furniture would transform it.

@Longwhiskers that is stunning, the gardens alone would make me want to buy it.

There's lots of that house to like, OP. I love the wood. I think it could look REALLY good if some things were swapped out as I agree things like the green carpets are hideous. Problem is it's been well preserved so things like the kitchens and bathrooms are a kind of historical feature even if they're not very nice. I bet it's been used on telly at some point.

I love them. If you like snooping at mid-century modern houses on Rightmove, try The Modern House estate agents, the photos are beautiful too.

I also like looking at flats in the Barbican or the Golden Lane estate and dreaming if only.

I love that house.

Orange Formica kitchen: yes please!
The hall with the black and white tiles, wonderful banisters.

I hope it doesn’t go to some unappreciative heathen.

I’d love a 60s house and particularly love a colourful bath suite! I’d happily live in either of the houses on this thread!

I love it- it’s been so nicely done and has some wonderful period features. The hallway/staircase is fab. Only needs minimal upgrading, maybe some sympathetic carpets? I’m definitely getting Austin Powers vibes!

I love this! So light and I would keep some of the period features, especially the kitchen.

It's a wonderful house! I love that it retains such an original feel. It deserves to be bought by someone who will appreciate it, not strip it bare of it's character.

I love it too, amd it's where we're looking. Sadly, it's not quite the right time for us.

Go view the house!

this one I saw recently has been modernised /updated and lost a lot of the Bond feel - but they are often well laid out houses, usually better than many from 80s.

I think you'd need to spend a bomb, before you got to do anything cosmetic.

Windows
Insulation
Rewiring?

Heating? It's air vent, so not sure how that would work with a reduced carbon system.

It’s one of those houses where you’re supposed to say it’s awesome, but if you’re totally honest, it’s in need of serious renovation but you can’t say it. Not for me. I’ll own it.
