Amazing 1960's Bond Villainesque House

This amazing house is for sale near me and it's the sort of house I would have dreamed of as a child in the late 60's. It reminds me of all those split level modern houses I used to see in films and I could even imagine Roger Moore coming face to face with a Bond villain in a house like this.

Everything is so well thought out, from the miles of fitted wardrobes to the massive downstairs laundry room. I think the price is a steal, although I imagine that the heating bills would be enormous.

Trying to persuade DH to go and have a look, if we bought I'd leave everything pretty much as it is, apart from the acres of awful green carpet.

The rightmove link is better. It describes the 'Elizabeth Ann' kitchen- quite a posh brand it would seem...

I'm a bit over invested. But I love it. If I could move now, and could persuade DH it was worth the effort, and could find the extra money...

That's a lot of 'could's!

Basically OP, only do it if you have pots of money to throw at it.

We're both open minded about it, both love the features and the obvious potential of the house.

The only thing that we find off putting is the garden, neither of us are natural gardeners and it looks like it could be a lot of work keeping everything trimmed.

Were definitely going to have a look, I shall report back once we've been inside.

Our house has just gone on the market and has a warm air heating system. We actually really like it because it heats the house up very quickly, provides a dry heat which keeps things like the wattle and daub and beams dry (house is 16th century) and means no radiators taking up wall space.

picklemewalnuts · 28/03/2023 15:26

Yes, sounds really good @CutesyUserName ! I was interested reading about it, and great that it can be effectively used with an air heat pump, as long as insulation is good (which will need doing with this one)

@picklemewalnuts I have lots of pots unfortunately they are all empty 😂

Love it! More gems if you follow Wowhaus.

I love that house! Saw it on Wales Online.
I'm bonkers about 60s and 70s properties, though. And am the proud owner of a big ugly 1972-built carbuncle myself.

I love them both, the one @Lavendersquare posted and @Longwhiskers . Bright and airy. I would love a 50s or 60s house in the suburbs, they’re so practical as well in their layout.

OP I think you would love Dakota Johnson’s house: and https://www.architecturaldigest.com/story/step-inside-dakota-johnsons-midcentury-modern-home
