What colour front door?

We are looking for a new composite front door, trying to decide on a colour.

I'd like bright pink. I've found a purple but not sure. We've been there with the dark grey thing and won't return. Anyone got any suggestions of what looks good?

I think the bright pink & the purples (I’ve just googled) look like they are part of a set off a kids tv show. Something Mr Tumble or the Rainbow gang should be walking through -sorry!

Navy blue always looks nice. Not my house btw.

Depends what colour your brick is

Margo34 · 09/03/2023 21:50

Sage green

SpottyStripyDuvet · 09/03/2023 21:54

We had this one last year. It was between that and purple (our old door was wooden but painted purple).

Black.

LesserBohemians · 09/03/2023 21:55

Ours is orange.

echt · 09/03/2023 22:25

Not grey.

I realise that sounds like a Farrow and Ball colour.

You said you'd like bright pink so go with that. I think front doors are the one place you can have fun and add a bit of character. It's not a massive area to repaint later if you fancy a change. I repaint my door every 2yrs and have fun with it. My neighbours have gone for sunshine yellow, orange and Barbie pink. It cheers people up and is a talking point.

CoffeeWithCheese · 11/03/2023 08:55

Ours is black - we still haven't passed beyond the pretending it's Number 10 fantasy yet.

MmePoppySeedDefage · 11/03/2023 09:00

Go for pink! I was going to go for a 'nice mid blue', then the decorator mentioned he's always painting front doors blue. So we went for a deep turquoise. I wanted something like deep bright pink or purple, but my husband vetoed it. I like our turquoise a lot.

A friend of my mum's had white with large black circles. It was on main road and attracted a lot of attention - it was great.

@demotedreally I can't decide either.

Have you chosen the brand of composite door? Surely you need to do that first then you're restricted to what they offer anyway .

SwedishEdith · 11/03/2023 09:31

Agree that your brickwork matters and which composite door company. I know you can, eventually, paint a composite door but can nullify (can't think of the right word) the guarantee. Plus, not that straightforward to paint.

I like a red door. But you also need to consider which way your door faces as some colours fade more than others.

I am also looking to replace our front door with a composite front door - seems a bit of a minefield of companies out there - can anyone recommend a good-value reliable one?

Thinking of replacing red with red - as current one goes well with the brickwork

WillowtreeHouse · 11/03/2023 09:39

We've just changed ours and I wanted pink. I was outvoted by everyone else in the house though and went for a deep blue colour with chrome hardware. It looks so lovely and I'm glad I was overruled!

OooPourUsACupLove · 11/03/2023 09:48

I went for pink last year and thought I was being really different! I can't believe how many pink front door lovers there are😍

Theraffarian · 11/03/2023 09:49

If I was having mine done today I would go with sage green , as it doesn’t look out of place with existing white window frames.

I’ve seen a bright yellow one, it had a bee knocker and loads of flowers in the garden. It was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.

Createausernametoday · 11/03/2023 09:53

White?

VegetablesFightingToReclaimTheAubergieneEmoji · 11/03/2023 09:54

There’s a Victorian terrace near me that’s this sort of dusty pink. It’s beautiful www.littlegreene.com/hellebore

if you want bright pink, go for it

demotedreally · 11/03/2023 20:57

Yes I need to find a suitable company. Many composite doors are very standard colours - dark grey, chartwell green and dark red, blue and green.

Any company recommendations gratefully received, we are in the Midlands

Blues, yellow and pink are all still in the running.

We used Reliant Windows based in West Bromwich

We're doing ours turquoise in the spring. I can't wait 😬

thishouseisashittip · 12/03/2023 11:12

@demotedreally totally agree with pp go for what you fancy 😊. We currently have a medium turquoise one (painted it ourselves) really like it but the door needs changing (we are in a new build and it's been shite from the start, have managed for the last 8 years but it's getting worse) so have ordered a new composite one, can't wait for it to be fitted now. Who gets excited about a new front door 🤣🙋🏻‍♀️. Anyway we have gone for an aubergine colour with a long bar handle on it, nobody else on our estate has that colour and I like to be different 😁. Will attach pics. Also will attach pic of front of catalogue which has a good selection of styles and colours. If you can find a reputable company local to you that uses the catalogue.

This sounds fabulous!
