Best city to live in UK with kids

Hi, I’m looking to move from a small town in north west England, no preference on where but it must have:

community groups eg. Homeschooling and autistic children’s groups
Good public transport
a balance between city life and the outdoors, accessible outdoor spaces
culture - museums and galleries that are child friendly
a creative vibe/community

Don't know specifics of homeschooling groups etc, but Sheffield is a good bet.

Norwich. It's very arty, creative, thriving homeschool scene. Beautiful historic city with loads of art galleries, museums, a university, art school, theatres and also close to the broads and the coast.

Oxford is good for all those things. Houses are expensive though, and the traffic can be bad, depending where and when you need to be out. Some local families prefer the nearby town of Abingdon, which has easy access to Oxford while being more family-friendly. Property isn't much cheaper there than Oxford, however.

London has all the things, with different vibes in different parts of the city. Admittedly comfort and convenience comes at a cost, but we’re very happy here and it’s an amazing place to raise family.

I've always thought London would be a great place to grow up. So much to do, great public transport so kids can get out and about on their own and nice weather. Guess you need more money though.

I used to live there, now 20 miles away. Local friends have just moved back there for pretty all the reasons you gave given.

It's perfect for access to the outdoors, and had all the other stuff too. The west side of the city blends seamlessly into Peak District - this is the S6, S8, S10, S11 postcodes, although you'll find that these are some of the more expensive parts of the city.

I'm not sure about those specific community groups but Edinburgh ticks all your other boxes. House prices might be a shock though!
