How high is your TV on media wall

Hello all,

So I've bought a 65 inch TV and was going to go a media wall with an electric fireplace below but now having second thoughts about how high the TV will feel.

Anybody got a 65 inch with a fireplace below and can guide me to how high your TV sits and if it bothers your neck!!

My dimensions I've worked out are:

25cm off floor until fireplace
540cm for fireplace
20cm clearance until TV
81cm TV height

Which makes me crane my neck!!

Thanks in advance

Ours is about 100 cm from the floor. Tv is 55 inches. I’d not like it higher.

note a media wall is just a wall with your tv on it. It’s just as easy to say if you’ve your tv on the wall

You need this in your life r/TVTooHigh.

They are different anyway. Tv on a wall - literally just stick the bracket on the wall and put your tv on it, potentially with the socket behind the tv but possibly with the wiring just trailing down to a skirting level socket and HDMI cables everywhere.

A media wall is a false wall behind which all the cabling etc goes, often connecting to speakers or gaming systems which are all hidden behind the panelling. It’s much harder to change the height of a tv on a media wall once it’s done due to recessing and panelling whereas with a normal wall can just take the bracket off and move it.

Mines quite high I think, must be boob height at the bottom (I'm 5'8), sofas are 3.5-4 m away, seems like a good height to me otherwise I would have changed it. I'll measure it if I can find a tape measure.

@Furries just spent ages trying to work out where the TV is in your photo. Is your telly like a mirror when its turned off? That's fab. And it has blown my tiny mind!

@LibertyLily could I ask where your rug is from please? I love it!

Thank you @PragmaticWench 🙂 It's a vintage one that we found at Thames Oriental Carpets in Marlow back in 2017.

Ha, that made me chuckle - hunt the tv!

Yes, it’s a mirror tv, blew my mind when I first heard about them (another thread on here some time ago). I decided to go with it as it definitely fits in better with the age of my house. Loads of frames to choose from.

Your eye line when sitting on your sofa should be the centre of the TV
