No. Too far for jobs and school

MaryBeardsShoes · 16/01/2023 08:10

No my house is way nicer!! Also they go in for that all grey look and I don't have time to redecorate.

Anonymouslyposting · 16/01/2023 09:00

Can we sell the house we move to? If so, yes! PiL are our closest relatives and they live in a flat worth twice what our house is worth. If we actually had to live in it I wouldn’t swap - our little house is more family friendly than their massive flat.

AWaferThinMint · 16/01/2023 09:58

Closest is a cousin who rents so no. Next closest is an hours drive away and a house that isn't my style so no. I live my home though!

CandleCandleCandle · 16/01/2023 09:59

I would, it’s a mansion.

WaddleAway · 16/01/2023 10:00

No, the 5 of us wouldn’t fit in their 1 bed flat and £50k wouldn’t do much to change that.

Imicola · 16/01/2023 10:06

No way

EleanorWigby · 16/01/2023 10:08

In a heartbeat! My mum and stepdad live 10 minutes down the road, but on a much nicer road and a bigger house that’s been done up really beautifully and with gorgeous garden.

I’d evacuate my ramshackle gaff in a day, no problem! 😆

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 16/01/2023 10:19

I'm not sure who is closest to me, my DM or my DB. I wouldn't swap with my DM as that's the house I grew up in and, while it's lovely with an amazing view and a huge garden, it's not a convenient location. She gets snowed in at the drop of a hat because she's half-way up a mountain (hence the amazing view). There is one bus that goes three times a day, whereas my house is near a tram stop, I would have to ferry the DC around a lot. I also wouldn't swap with DB as he's currently in rented while trying to get planning permission to rebuild his new house. Don't want any of that hassle. Also, £50k isn't much of an incentive.

Luana1 · 16/01/2023 10:28

My nearest relatives have a huge house with land and an indoor pool, but they are too far from the kid's school and we like where we live and our house so for £50k no. I would for £1m though!

LegoGoldenDragon · 16/01/2023 10:57

Totally. Bigger house and garden in a better location.

LadyFlumpalot · 16/01/2023 11:53

Absolutely. It's a much nicer house than ours, mortgage free, big garden, off road parking.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 16/01/2023 11:54

Nope! Their house costs a fortune to heat.

SeasonFinale · 16/01/2023 11:57

Depends on what their house is like and where and whether they are paying all legal costs and fees and stamp duty and capital gains tax (as potentially a transfer at undervalue) and also funding the siffeeenxe in value as may need a larger mortgage etc

Flapjackquack · 16/01/2023 11:58

No, it’s much bigger and more expensive than ours but it’s old and listed and the upkeep costs are staggering. I like my house, it’s small but fine for us, it makes smile when I walk in the door. We bought and renovated the house ourselves with zero help from parents etc and I am really proud of what we’ve achieved.

Thesonglastslonger · 16/01/2023 11:59

No 🤣🤣

If someone offers you money to move into their house, they have a shit noisy neighbour and aren’t admitting it.

DressingForRevenge · 16/01/2023 11:59

Tricky as he’s a gazillionaire so it’s a palace. However I prefer my location.

TrudyProud · 16/01/2023 15:42

Yes! My in laws live 10min walk away in a 6 bed semi , with detached garage and separate annex . We live in a 4 bed semi.

Their house needs updating but a 2-3X the sqft with features and privacy it's 💯 yes 🤣

Theeaglesoared · 16/01/2023 15:42

Dear God, no.

MinnieMountain · 16/01/2023 15:51

No. It’s our old house that we sold to MIL when we wanted somewhere bigger.
