No , my house is nicer

ThatsRoughBuddy · 16/01/2023 01:46

Yes, they live next door in an identical (but much more nicely decorated) house. Grin

SuperPup86 · 16/01/2023 02:32

No. I wouldn't even for £500k.

The house itself would be fine...but it's 20 minutes away, in an area I absolutely don't want to live in and wouldn't want my dc to grow up in.

Jadviga · 16/01/2023 02:47

Well, given that the family member who lives closest to me is 12.000km away, I probably wouldn't on the basis that the commute to work would become difficult to manage.

Plus they live in an unpractical house in the middle of nowhere, so thanks but no thanks. You'd have to offer me a LOT more money before I'd even begin to consider it.

Though if this is about the house I own (rather than the one I live in) and if this involved swapping mortgages too, then yes I would, then I would promptly sell my newly aquired house and use the freed up equity to buy a nicer place with a smaller mortgage in a better location.

Aquamarine1029 · 16/01/2023 02:54

Fuck no. 50k is nothing.

Ponderingwindow · 16/01/2023 02:57

No. Their house is worth about the same as ours and it’s perfectly fine and has some features that are very appealing, but I wouldn’t want to live there. The driveway is very stressful and I would have to give up things I adore about my own home.

Colourinsidethelines · 16/01/2023 02:59

No! It’s so untidy and needs so much work! I’m assuming they’d take their crap with them though. Our house needs work but it’s clean and liveable, theirs wouldn’t be to me. It’s a very dark house too, I find it really claustrophobic.

LCforlife · 16/01/2023 03:01

Yeah. My house is more my style and in a better area but theirs is bigger, much nicer kitchen and a better garden. They've also got really good wood floor.

Eminybob · 16/01/2023 03:05

Yes! Better location, nicer, bigger house. 100%

MintJulia · 16/01/2023 03:11

No. His house is an 'executive home' shoe box on an estate. Ours is old but overlooks water meadows. We have deer and kestrels, we have few neighbours. His is probably worth more.

alwayscrashinginthesamecar1 · 16/01/2023 03:15

Well I have a lovely house in Australia and my closest relatives are in the UK, so thanks but no thanks.

Karmatime · 16/01/2023 07:28

My sister’s house is beautiful and worth more than twice what I could ever afford but it’s rural and I’m a city bod - so no.

daffodilandtulip · 16/01/2023 07:38

No. Technically their house is "better" as it's a semi and mine is a town house; but taken room by room, we have tons more space.
Also they live in a street where everyone knows if you blink, and will talk about it for days.

PourOnTheHeat · 16/01/2023 07:41

No. They all live near to cities and have lots of neighbours, we’re rural with no close neighbours and beautiful views. Their houses couldn’t fit all our animals. So definitely not.

TrodOnLegoAgain · 16/01/2023 07:42

Ours is worth 3x as much so no.

scoobiedoobiedoo · 16/01/2023 07:43

No because they live in a different country with a different language, and their apartment is too small.

Spendonsend · 16/01/2023 07:43

No. Its a retirement flat. I think my children arent legally allowed to live there.

StarInTheHeavens · 16/01/2023 07:45

No way.

StarInTheHeavens · 16/01/2023 07:46

Can we up the fund to 4M? Then I'd swap Grin

itsgettingweird · 16/01/2023 07:50

Yes! I live in a 2 bed flat and they live in a 3 bed houses with conservatory, bigger kitchen and 2 of the bedrooms are a great size!

Susanthehappytrottingelf · 16/01/2023 07:51

My nearest relative has a nice house which isn't a terrible commute to work. But 50k wouldn't make up for moving the kids to a different school and we prefer our area and our house. If you made it £500k, yes

itsgettingweird · 16/01/2023 07:52

Oh and it's only 1.5 miles away and so none of my commutes would be affected!

PuttingDownRoots · 16/01/2023 07:52

No. Mainly because of school catchment... we decided against moving to that town as the choice was between pushy Grammars, a bad Secondary modern, and private school.

DD goes to an average comprehensive school, nothing particularly thrilling about it but a good standard of education, good extra curricular and good results.

FTStheFirstTimeSeller · 16/01/2023 07:58

No.
It's a lovely flat in a lovely place, but it's 1600km too East from my work😂

RM2013 · 16/01/2023 08:04

No. Closet is my parents who live on same
estate but theirs is slightly differently designed but still only 3 beds. They have built a downstairs toilet and their 3rd bedroom is bigger than ours but it’s not worth £50k
