New front door anyone? Costs?

Been quoted £1700 - £2000 for a supply and fitting of a composite door by 2 window companies. Nothing fancy in the design.
Seems a lot, but am I just out of touch with costs.
Can anyone suggest somewhere to source a door? B & Q reviews are terrible.
Would buying my own and finding a fitter be more economical?
Thanks!

We did this a couple of years ago and your cost sounds about right. Look at Solidor. It's a really nice door. I think we had it fitted by a company called Timber Composite Doors, who were also excellent.

I just had one put in. Composite door with two full length, glass side panels. With all the locks, handles, letter box etc, the door came to £1,300. We have it the green door and green frame inside and out - that make it £200 more expensive than if we had it white on the inside.

My builder charged me £400 to remove the old one and fit the new one.

Whereabouts in the country are you please? We have just been quoted £500 to fit a new composite door.
