Double basins or larger shower in large ensuite?

Well it isn't exactly an ensuite but it is for DH and I to share. Loft conversion, designing a new bathroom in a large space which goes into the eaves. I'm having a free standing bath, loo, shower and sink. I am really keen on a double sink so we can each have our side as we often brush teeth on top of each other, but this means the shower will only be 900x900. Should I try to rejig or is this ok?

I'd go bigger shower personally. We have similar set up. We have a 1800 shower i the loft area bathroom, toilet and a bath under the eaves. The sink is fairly small 500 I think but i'd rather not be brushing teeth together. We have a main family bathroom aswell.

Definitely bigger shower

Vallmo47 · 19/11/2022 22:40

As someone who grew up with two basins, definitely go larger shower. The second basin soon became a dumping ground and just yet another thing to keep clean.

thenightsky · 19/11/2022 22:42

Big shower definitely.

HarvestThyme · 19/11/2022 22:43

Bidet.

Or larger shower.

Double basins are ridiculous.

PickAChew · 19/11/2022 22:46

Bigger shower. It's not like cleaning teeth takes half an hour out of your morning or you absolutely have to spit into the bathroom snk.

AriettyHomily · 19/11/2022 22:48

Double bains. Every time.

ShellsOnTheBeach · 19/11/2022 22:49

People don't actually do this, do they? With hot shower water?

feministqueen · 19/11/2022 23:07

How big is the room?

Foxfeeder · 19/11/2022 23:08

Shower

parsniiips · 19/11/2022 23:14

Can anyone enlighten me as to why anyone needs two basins in a bathroom?
There are 24 hours in a day and it takes just 2 minutes to brush teeth, there's really no need to do it at the exact same 2 minute time period.

Bigger shower is more sensible.

dudsville · 19/11/2022 23:18

Bigger shower, learn to take turns brushing your teeth! You wouldn't have two toilets.

Davros · 19/11/2022 23:27

Get rid of the bath then have bigger shower and two sinks

RampantIvy · 19/11/2022 23:33

900 x 900 isn't exactly a small shower, but I don't see the point in two wash basins. It's just another basin to clean.

I’ve tried it once. It was weird.

StrawberryPot · 19/11/2022 23:39

Neither.

We had a big shower installed in a previous house and honestly, there's a lot of dead space. When you have a shower you stand under the shower head. You don't need extra space away from that. In our current house we have a big shower and a small shower (smaller than 90x90). I always use the smaller one.

And agree with previous comments about 2 sinks. Just why? Confused. Can't you just enjoy the space?

Yep

Double basins are ridiculous. Larger showers are the bees knees.

allboysherebutme · 19/11/2022 23:55

Larger shower. X

FancyFelix · 19/11/2022 23:58

I am having the same dilemma OP. I want both!!

What's ridiculous about double basins? Blush

NeedAHoliday2021 · 20/11/2022 00:01

I don’t understand double sinks. Are there people who brush their teeth in sync with their partner? The bathroom is somewhere I go alone (except for small dc). I don’t understand how people use their bathrooms.

NotABeliever · 20/11/2022 00:02

900 x 900 is a godo size for a shower. I would get a bigger basin rather than two basins. Like a basin with a larger worktop around it.
