Would you recommend your boiling water tap?

I am looking to get one fitted and was wondering how people find them, are they truly boiling water or am I condemning myself to awful cups of tea forever more?

Which brand do people have and would you buy the same again given the choice?

We have a Hydrotap at work, just googled it and it's £5k to buy. Works really well though!

Why would you blow £1300 on a quooker when you can get one of those 'always hot' kettles for around £60?

Because always hot kettles are crap and quookers are not crap

Heatherbell1978 · 14/11/2022 21:06

We have a Quettle. I'm a huge tea and coffee drinker and wouldn't be without it. Never noticed a difference in taste to be honest.

notapizzaeater · 14/11/2022 21:07

I've a Franke one, also dispenses at 100. With tea I use the 'starter' water to heat the cup then when it starts 'spitting' make the brew then

blankittyblank · 14/11/2022 21:07

Do quookers cost a lot to run? I sort of assumed they would do as the water has to stay boiling but maybe not?

Christmaslover2022 · 14/11/2022 21:10

We have the insinkerator. It doesn't cost alot to run, the tank boils every now and then. Not noticed any increase and we've got a smart metre. Water comes out very hot! Lovely addition to the kitchen

Whatevergetsyouthroughthenight · 14/11/2022 21:11

Quooker owner here too. It’s great and I have had it 6 years, no problems. Ridiculously expensive mind you!

Sunsnowsun · 14/11/2022 21:12

Quooker here and love it, would not be without it

CarrieMoonbeams · 14/11/2022 21:15

We have the Quooker too, and absolutely love it. I'm a real "tea jenny" and it's fantastic.

Ours also does the sparkling chilled water too, brilliant for DH who loves fizzy water. The tank things take up a bit of room in the cupboards though. I'd definitely get another one if we moved house.

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 14/11/2022 21:17

@notapizzaeater we were looking at a Franke one. What do they cost if you don’t mind me asking?
We have a hot tap at work. It’s ok, only broke down once in 4 years, it’s high use for 100 staff.

notapizzaeater · 14/11/2022 21:23

@LadyGaGasPokerFace was about 2 years ago, paid about £800

JudgeRindersMinder · 14/11/2022 21:26

I have a Pronteau, it’s been in a few months and so far so good

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 14/11/2022 21:26

Super. We were looking at these yesterday as our kitchen tap has broken. It’s got a slow leak, so hoping to either change the tap or add a hot tap.
Thank you @notapizzaeater

pompei8309 · 14/11/2022 21:45

If you’re a tea drinker get a Reginox , much cheaper than others and makes a great cup of tea

Cnp41 · 14/11/2022 22:50

Got kitchen done a year ago and got a beautiful brushed brass quooker tap. It came wrapped in a lovely pink blanket like a weirdly shaped but very precious newborn. It is fabulous. I feel like a tap wanker every time I use it but I don't care. Best.thing.ever.

Notsympatheticenough · 15/11/2022 07:23

grin tap wanker.that feeling doesn’t go!

JudithHarper · 15/11/2022 07:51

mileaminute · 14/11/2022 21:03

Because always hot kettles are crap and quookers are not crap

Well, that's informative. Perhaps you would like to expand on why you think always hot kettles are 'crap'.

CrappyUsername · 15/11/2022 09:50

We have a quooker and the tea is not filmy at all. We live in a hard water area but have a water softener unit that does all the water in the house, so no limescale issues.

CrappyUsername · 15/11/2022 09:51

Oh and we also have the 'cube' that goes with it. So we have instant boiling water, instant chilled still water and instant chilled sparkling water.

lunar1 · 15/11/2022 14:55

Looks like a quooker it is then! Thank you everyone, I'll be one step closer on deck uttering my kitchen worktop.

I don't know how autocorrect did that. I meant decluttering!
