Would you recommend your boiling water tap?

I am looking to get one fitted and was wondering how people find them, are they truly boiling water or am I condemning myself to awful cups of tea forever more?

Which brand do people have and would you buy the same again given the choice?

Love mine, I have a Qettle. Tea can be a bit filmy I wont lie, but coffee is great. And using for cooking is epic. I think the slightly filmy tea is a trade I'm happy to make for the rest of the benefits.

Word of warning though, if you're in a hard water area you'll have to change the filter way more often than they tell you or your tap will slow to a trickle.

I've moved around a lot and had three different types. The only one I will recommend is a quooker. It truly is boiling so the tea is great

We got a qooker as I love tea and it promises boiling water. The tea is great.

Was it s bit of an unnecessary extravagance....probably. but we are used to it now. Use it all the time. And it frees up a bit of counter space...

We are in soft water area.

One negative is visitors treat it with suspicion and won't volunteer to use it.

I don't drink coffee, only tea, so I'm possibly not going to get away with one of the cheaper ones am I.

We have them at work. Hate them. Tea is crap, and they don’t work for pot noodles and the like.

most of our offices have bought their own kettles.

No way if you’re a tea drinker. The tea always tastes slightly odd.

I don’t have one but when I go to friends or offices that have one it’s always disappointing tea!

Ours at work is awful, some unspecified make. But the qooker at home is great for tea.

Quooker - we've had one for ages and I will never be without one. Water is boiling as it comes out. Fantastic for tea. Also ours supplies the hot water tap in the kitchen (ready mixed with cold for sensible hot water temperature) which saves a fortune as the hot water tank is two stories up.

Boiling water taps are 100,000 miles away from the stupid hot water safety things you get in offices. They are bleurgh.

Why would you blow £1300 on a quooker when you can get one of those 'always hot' kettles for around £60?

Qooker with a boiling and cold water filter. Yes it's brilliant especially when cooking and you want to fill lots of pans. I also find the filter makes the cold water taste better.

Water evaporates at 100 degrees C. The water is not boiling when it comes out of these as it is impossible to maintain that temp consistently without constantly increasing the water supply (which wastes water). The water is some way off boiling (can be by a fair few degrees depending on model) and the diffusing of the tea suffers as a result (perfectly fine for coffee and other uses). Not an issue for most but it does impact the quality (you can usually see a slight "scum" when they are used on the tea).

In addition, when these became popular in the US I heard that they are poor for bacteria which can live in outlet (a problem with the sub 100 degree temp). They were never recommended for babies bottles or disinfecting. A solution to this may have been found.

You have misunderstood the technology, certainly in the case of the Quooker. They are pressurised systems hence the water is boiling, not a few degrees off. There is no difference to tea whatsoever if you have a pressurised system like the quooker

As above "Boiling water: Quooker taps are the only hot taps that dispense boiling water at 100°C. This feature is as a result of its vacuum insulation mechanism and thermos technology. The tanks hold water under pressure at 110°C, but, water is dispensed at 100°C."

I'm not sure it's the only one now. But thats what to look for for tea....

Moving soon and hoping to upgrade kitchen next year. Both tea drinkers so definitely going to look at the quooker. A friend of mine has one and loves hers

Quettle also insulated at 100% so comes out of the tap boiling, also with the cold filtered water too, one of the best thing we have bought imo

Another vote here for Quooker. I drink tea all day long and it’s perfect. Great for cooking too. Would 100% recommend. Much safer than having a kettle too with little ones around.
