Am I the only one to think this is freaky?

I've been looking at house listings or some time, but have never seen one where the estate agent appears to have crept round & 'strategically placed' their logo'd merch all over the house. Does anyone else think this is weird/ a bit freaky, and would put them off buying?

Like @Siepie I don't live anywhere near Canterbury but do know that estate agent, they have been around for years. The people might be new but the agency isnt

I don't get why it would put anyone off buying a house, no one thinks you have to agree to live with the merch do they 😜

Strange! There are only two houses for sale and no previous sales for that particular branch. Is it a franchise estate agency or something?

OhSunnyMorning · 27/10/2022 10:47

Trying to visualise the photos without the red branded items. I think the photos would be very drab and dreary indeed. If anything the items put some life into the listing.

However I think they should have used non branded items to make it less blatant.

ZeldaWillTellYourFortune · 27/10/2022 11:11

I like it!

@NancyDrooo - yes it looks like it. I think 3 guys have banded together to open it, none have any experience other than renovating a property and letting it out it looks like. I assume they think this ”staging” is some ingenious marketing.

CalmConfident · 27/10/2022 12:43

It doesn’t help that the stuff on the shelves looks like empty McDonald fries packets 🍟

Dreikanter · 27/10/2022 13:01

They’ve been doing this for around 2 years (allegedly). I guess the agency is a franchise? They’ve only got 2 properties on their books for sale, and nothing to rent.

Shitfather · 28/10/2022 14:28

Yep creepy and mildly amusing. It doesn’t make the house more desirable, and smacks of desperation. Reminds me somewhat of people who have cushions at home with their names on them.

lucysnowe2 · 28/10/2022 18:33

It's like something out of Stath Lets Flats lol

Kyrae · 29/10/2022 19:30

Maybe they're reeeeally paranoid that the seller will change to another estate agent and steal their photos? 😆

FirstTim3Buyer · 29/10/2022 19:57

Not seen this before - would definitely ask about it, may have something to do with it currently hosting tenants.
Can't say it's the best look though

TheFormidableMrsC · 29/10/2022 21:43

I'd presume it's to stop the pictures being lifted by another agent. Still odd regardless.

Mapleapple · 30/10/2022 06:30

I bet that they think they’ve done something really smart with marketing and are so clever to think of something other estate agents don’t do. I am sure buzzwords like brand cohesion and identity would have been uttered at that team meeting.

pompomsontheceiling · 30/10/2022 06:33

Where's the Humphries gnome?

pompomsontheceiling · 30/10/2022 06:35

I've done the kitchen cupboards for them.

Am I the only one to think this is freaky?
Novemberhater · 30/10/2022 07:25

It's a student rental, a HMO. Photos must have been taken before the start of term.

How weird to put it on the market when the students have the best part of the year to live (party) in the house.

The stuff with logos on is enough of a red flag in itself without the added bonus of the tenants. The area may well have been prestigious years ago, but is now blighted with these properties, many of which are a nuisance to neighbours.

stayathomer · 30/10/2022 07:28

I was trying to figure out a word but now at Halloween and with the read you could call it freaky!!!

MidnightsFoodbowl · 30/10/2022 10:25

@pompomsontheceiling that's brilliant! Thanks all for the comments: the practical (I agree about student properties), and emotional- I'm so glad it's not just me!

So many mugs! 😂

I agree with a PP - they need to up their game in the garden.

longtompot · 30/10/2022 10:56

That is most odd. I had a look to see if their other properties were the same, but there is only one other on rightmove and it doesn't have the red merch everywhere.

I do like how they highlight the house in colour on the main picture with the neighbouring houses in black and white.

thismeansnothing · 30/10/2022 11:00

Lmao makes it look like a bad budget hotel

Squizzas · 30/10/2022 11:01

Well it’s got us talking about them I suppose. It looks like someone has gone to bed after ordering McDonalds and thought, sod it, we’ll clear up in the morning.

it’s very distracting.

MyDogStoodOnABee · 30/10/2022 11:04

Stops vendor relisting with another agent who then uses the photos to create their listing without paying a photographer.

This made me lol. My mother is forever buying me and my husband stuff like monogrammed pillows and wine stoppers with our names on them. I don’t have the heart to tell her that I haven’t wanted my name emblazoned across anything since the age of about 11, when I had a little personalised ‘license plate’ on my bicycle.

Quitelikeit · 30/10/2022 11:59

Well you are talking about it so I guess they have succeeded in raising their brand

I won’t be clicking on the link!!

HiveBee · 30/10/2022 12:26

I can understand it though to be fair because one local Estate Agent has a beautiful professional photograph pack that they supply as part of the no sale no fee arrangement that you would sign with them but they’re completely missing a trick because the photos are not watermarked. You can probably guess what happens next if they don’t sell the house within the first 48 hours or something ridiculous.

whilst that particular company is excellent at Marketing they need to sack their compliance department
