Viewing houses- surely everyone does this?

We're house hunting. Whenever I view a house, I always knock on the door of the next door neighbour, pretending I've got the wrong house- I like to know what the neighbour is like and sometimes they even give you useful info.

DH says no one else does this and it's weird. WDYT?

Also unless your looking at houses that look identical and no for sale sign don’t get how anyone could make that mistake

I've never heard of anyone doing that before but when we were looking around one house and were in the garden a lady came to the fence and asked if we were interested in buying it and when we said yes she asked if we had any dogs. At the time we didn't, so we said no. She then told us it was a nice quiet area.
