Why won’t this house sell?

This house has been up for sale for what must be a year, I’m sure it started off at 1.4mil and has slowly reduced to 1.1mil now. I’m not sure why they are struggling so much though? No it doesn’t have amazing curb appeal and needs a reno but surely those things are pretty easy fixes for someone with a bit of inspiration? At the current price it seems like an absolute steal, great location, big garden and freehold property on a leafy street… even given the works that would be needed. www.purplebricks.co.uk/property-for-sale/3-bedroom-end-of-terrace-house-west-hampstead-1224852

Who in their right mind are buying these houses???
Londoners.

That East Yorkshire house is very ugly on the outside though isn't it?

I live in a £1m flat in London, and wouldn't want to live in Yorkshire as I don't know anyone there, don't want to spend my life driving everywhere (I can walk to a huge range of supermarkets, wine bars, cafes, restaurants, cinemas, pubs and leisure centres), and I'm mostly on my own so don't need a huge house and garden or good schools.

Just to make the point. Londoners like London because it what they're used to. They like being able to access some of the best culture in the world and access to a huge array of amenities. But we don't have beautiful countryside and cheap housing at our finger tips. Not that I think London is better than anywhere else but to explain its different strokes for different folks and depends what youre used to, your expectations and where your connections are.

Its always so obvious when people just go on about the housing price difference for London properties. The house quoted in the OP was ugly and next to mainline rail.

I understand London prices etc but what I never get is to afford a house like that surely would be people with seriously High paying careers and all you have to show for it is a weirdly shaped house with tiny bathroom dated decor and listening to trains rattle by

Not all Londoners who can afford a house like this have super high incomes, many have simply benefited because they bought at the right time and their property has appreciated hugely in value. Also, people choose to live in London because of the available amenities - access to world class culture, employment opportunities, restaurants, transport connections to other places etc - which compensates for the cost of housing. If you live in the middle of nowhere perhaps it is more important to have a lovely house, because there isn't much else to do but sit around and enjoy it... (I'm exaggerating, but there's some truth to it).
