Hi all,

with all being well we hope to have completed on our house in September , with this in mind we have need to try and re paint the whole of downstairs which is open plan & upstairs to, I want it all the same colour I can then accessorize with Artwork etc.
in our current living room we have gentle fawn, I love this colour, it does appear different all depending on the light but maybe want something different- has anyone any recommendations for a neautral colour that goes well with wood and cream furniture, rustic country look is what I am aiming for, we don't want anything to clinical looking but need something bright with a warm hint to it if that makes sense. I will get testers at the time but need some recommendations in advance, thanks! x

Farrow and ball ammonite is the loveliest grey out there, you can get it colour matched

Whippetquick · 19/08/2022 16:48

Egyptian Cotton

Whippetquick · 19/08/2022 16:48

Dulux

Furball · 19/08/2022 16:55

Dulux crispy crumble

We have Dulux Heritage Swedish White, which is perfect with our furniture and paintings. Our bedroom is north -facing and it looks so bright in there.

Pinkywoo · 19/08/2022 17:05

I love this, and it does have warmth to it and can look different in different lights.

We have Dulux Rock Salt in our open plan hallway and dining room and up the stairs and onto the landing. It’s an extremely pale grey and can look white in some lights. It was on the walls when we moved in lady year but I’ve grown to really like. It makes the house look light and airy. I’ll try and upload a photo.

last not lady!

Another vote for Egyptian cotton. It's somehow bright and airy while also being soft and cosy. Gorgeously neutral and is neither too grey or too yellowy

Try the Stone colours from Paint and Paper Library. They range from 1-5, very pale to a deep stone colour. We have Stone 4 in our living room and it’s warm and cosy but elegant also. It’s also good at grounding various colours together.

Deluxe Timeless?

Have a look at Dulux Rum Caramel 5

A colour match of F&B schoolhouse white. It's my new "go to" following Egyptian Cotton and Amonite.

TizerorFizz · 20/08/2022 10:35

Pointing by F&B is a warm white. We have it all over the house in the open plan areas. Schoolhouse White is a good newer colour. If you want a colour to go with cream, I do suggest you need a white with a warm hue. So red of yellow pigments. Some whites are “blue” and clinical and maybe not a good companion for cream. Grey wouldn’t do it for me with cream. I would go lighter but in the same spectrum. Some colours mentioned above would be at odds with cream I think.

Snowfall by Crown paints is the one I'll be redoing my house with next. A poster had it throughout her house and it was perfect in every room (she linked to its particulars on RM).

TizerorFizz · 20/08/2022 16:24

Snowfall is a grey. The OP would need to consider if this is ok with cream.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 20/08/2022 17:51

I have Dulux Timeless, which is off white, basically. I have wooden floors, some wooden furniture and a teal sofa and it looks lovely. It's a gorgeous calm neutral, for me

CatkinToadflax · 20/08/2022 17:56

Our living room is north facing and was painted a really gloomy beige. We’ve just redecorated it in F&B Orange Coloured White and it’s lovely and bright and cheerful in there now.

QforCucumber · 20/08/2022 17:59

We have Dulux pebble shore - it’s a pale grey/cashmere works brilliantly with wood/ivory’s and creams - a rare photo of a tidy lounge haha (it is about to thunder though so it’s really dark!)

F&B Pointing is a creamy cream, Wimborne White is ivory cream, Slipper Satin is a greyey cream. Dimity is a pinky pale creamy beige.

Little Greene Clay - Pale is cream.

Any of those would work or you could have them colour-matched. They’d all lovely colours.

TizerorFizz · 20/08/2022 19:15

Farrow and Ball usefully give you paint schemes and colours that complement your choice of wall colour. There’s loads of real life pictures so you can see exactly what works. Also what you don’t like.

I don’t find art sits particularly well on greys. The warm whites work better in my view. You can order the little pots and play around. Also think about what pops of colour you might like. Blues, teal, green etc?

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 20/08/2022 22:13

I went through a dozen testers before I settled on Dulux Natural Calico.
It's a cool yet warm light beige with no yellow

Parkingt111 · 21/08/2022 00:13

Iv just got a sample of Dunelm own brand in shell white
It has really good reviews and is the perfect warm white shade

kateandme · 21/08/2022 04:54

please NOT grey

Whippetquick · 21/08/2022 07:48

Natural Hessian is a slightly pale version of Egyptian Cotton, which is also a colour match to Skimming Stone F&B ( Eygyptian Cotton)
