Hi all,

with all being well we hope to have completed on our house in September , with this in mind we have need to try and re paint the whole of downstairs which is open plan & upstairs to, I want it all the same colour I can then accessorize with Artwork etc.
in our current living room we have gentle fawn, I love this colour, it does appear different all depending on the light but maybe want something different- has anyone any recommendations for a neautral colour that goes well with wood and cream furniture, rustic country look is what I am aiming for, we don't want anything to clinical looking but need something bright with a warm hint to it if that makes sense. I will get testers at the time but need some recommendations in advance, thanks! x

We tried all the expensive ones but found them too dull, we landed on B&Q Valdez for a warm neutral. I’m really happy with it. We have it in the bedroom for a clean, natural look (wood, cream and plants vibe).

Many expensive paints have two finishes. The F&B standard emulsion is a chalky finish. However they do another finish with 20% sheen. This reflects light in a subtle way. Therefore you have to know the finish you prefer before making comparisons. A 20% sheen gives a spongeable finish.

Natural Hessian is a slightly pale version of Egyptian Cotton, which is also a colour match to Skimming Stone F&B ( Eygyptian Cotton)

This is natural hessian in our dark hall and lighter living room. We have it in lots of rooms. More brown than magnolia....but very neutral.

Dulux almond white has warm undertones without looking yellow. If you can afford Farrow and Ball, pointing is lovely- subtly warm.

Another vote for Dulux Egyptian cotton.

If you want a Farrow and Ball colour, but think it’s too expensive, B&Q will colour match their Valspar paint to it.

Portland Stone by Little Greene is nice too but more or less the same as EC depends how much you want to spend on paint

We have Natural Hessian too, it is a great warm neutral. Our stairs and hall are Nutmeg white which is a similar tone, but lighter. Nice and fresh looking.

Why not use the best quality paint? Mostly you get what you pay for with finish and colours.

Little Green "Rolling fog". It comes in three depths too.
