Rightmove Confessions

Anyone else a Rightmove addict? I spend time on there like other people do on Twitter or Insta, just scrolling and pondering "I wonder where I could afford if I moved to Edinburgh" or "if I won the lottery, I'd buy DD a flat in London- but which one?"

DH thinks it's crazy and keeps asking if I'm planning that we should move, but I'm really not!

Me! I give myself a set amount and then see what I can afford In my fav part of the country

CravenRaven · 12/08/2022 11:10

I do this all the time...

I sit there looking at the floorplans and thinking how I would use each room etc.

MrsMoastyToasty · 12/08/2022 11:13

DH recently had a job interview in another part of the UK. Before he'd even had the interview I was on rightmove searching for property in that area.

LadyGardenersQuestionTime · 12/08/2022 14:09

I thought everyone did this? 😳

Twiglets1 · 12/08/2022 14:16

I do this. I could give it up anytime. Just not yet ok?

This one is today's pick.
It is euromillions tonight. :)

I used to love browsing through Rightmove of an evening and seeing what I could afford (and especially what I couldn't). And then we decided to actually move and it became a chore and all the joy was sucked out of it.

Once we move I hope I get my RM mojo back so I can browse houses that I know I won't live in.

bloodybluemoon · 12/08/2022 16:59

I do this after playing the Euromillions lol

Omg.

This is my standard Friday evening activity with a glass of wine. I look at what has come on the market this week in the local area, then in a couple of areas where family members live then move onto fantasy land e.g. lottery win, what if DH got a job in.....

moreteensthansense · 12/08/2022 17:02

I have alerts for all sorts of random towns!

Amijustagrump · 13/08/2022 08:04

I like looking in areas my friends are planning to buy in and guess which one they want! I'm yet to get it right..

I want to see pictures of all the little cottages it comes with!

jay55 · 13/08/2022 09:12

I'm always looking for my lottery house, and at fancy flats where I live and have an alert for an area my grandparents had a holiday home in case it ever comes back for sale.

It's harmless fun.

PutYourBackIntoit · 13/08/2022 09:18

I do this at least once a week.

I read the thread about affordable seaside towns with good schools and a sandy beach and went through thd list to decide which place we'd buy. And I'm on holiday 😳

It's almost like a form of meditation for me, it removes my mind from the daily grind and the Big Problems

stuntbubbles · 13/08/2022 09:21

I’ve got some lovely saved properties in Cromer, Lyme Regis, Rye, all across the country. The thrill of setting “no max” budget and this magical little app just delivering up your dreams, it’s my favourite hobby.

Antarcticant · 13/08/2022 09:23

Yes, I love RightMove.

NotASecret · 13/08/2022 09:50

I've kept our search settings from when we last moved (2017) and like seeing which houses have gone back on the market. A couple of the weird ones we looked at only sold recently - I used to enjoy seeing them reappear with new agents and the same old unrealistic photos from 2003, or whenever the vendors bought it.

That's next level!

CherryBlossom321 · 13/08/2022 09:59

Yep, this is my hobby. I set myself challenges of widely varying scenarios of location and budget and off I go down the RM rabbit hole for an hour or so. I'm quite weird in general though, apparently.

Antarcticant · 13/08/2022 09:59

I like searching for houses from my past - e.g. long deceased relatives. Many are unrecognisable inside.

Crikeyalmighty · 13/08/2022 10:23

Ha, ha, I'm a mumsnet and Rightmove addict!!

Yes! My granny's house is a great example - I had to refer to the floor plans to work out what they've done.

Depends how much time you want to spend drooling. generally something with accommodation is on holiday sites (wedding sites too maybe with this one so that's where you'd get to be nosey)
Planning permission listings can be interesting.
I check out the flooding risk too sometimes.
Streetview on google is always fun.

I am a rightmove addict.

This was the home of TC Lethbridge. He wrote about the lady who lived in Hole Mill at the bottom of the hill. I've read a couple of his books and he writes about pendulum dowsing at his beautiful old home. It was so nice to see it on Rightmove.
The mill below was sold a few years ago and I drooled over that too.
