Rightmove Confessions

Anyone else a Rightmove addict? I spend time on there like other people do on Twitter or Insta, just scrolling and pondering "I wonder where I could afford if I moved to Edinburgh" or "if I won the lottery, I'd buy DD a flat in London- but which one?"

DH thinks it's crazy and keeps asking if I'm planning that we should move, but I'm really not!

My DP knows the price of literally every property that come onto the market where we live. It’s hilarious, if we pass a For Sale sign, I’ll ask him for the price as well as a run down on decor and bedroom sizes.

My thing is looking at properties abroad, for my retirement. Found some great properties, unfortunately I’ll have to sell a kidney to afford any of them!

MaisyMoo2022 · 13/08/2022 12:45

I just love looking at the interiors and take screenshots of nicely decorated rooms for inspiration.

Limpshade · 13/08/2022 13:11

The Bennets' house from the Colin Firth/90s Pride and Prejudice TV series is also on there currently Smile

Thank you! I'd run out of houses on Savills' site & this has set me off again.

BrennieGirl · 13/08/2022 16:10

The pride and prejudice one is dreamy.

Woodswoman · 13/08/2022 17:01

Check out the Instagram account Cheap Nordic Houses, this is the one that am addicted to in addition to Rightmove, I want every property they post.

Ladyof2022 · 13/08/2022 19:17

Yep! It's my version of porn. My guilty secret!

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 13/08/2022 19:21

Lottery win houses are a favourite of mine.
When I find one I like I spend far too much time matching pictures to floorplans and maps.

Yes! My granny's house is a great example - I had to refer to the floor plans to work out what they've done.

I'd love to see my gparents' house inside. They sold it in 1999 and the buyers are still there, but no photos are on Rightmove. Would love to see what it's like now.

This was the home of TC Lethbridge. He wrote about the lady who lived in Hole Mill at the bottom of the hill. I've read a couple of his books and he writes about pendulum dowsing at his beautiful old home. It was so nice to see it on Rightmove.
The mill below was sold a few years ago and I drooled over that too.

Now that's interesting, I read most of his books when I was about 15 and I'd almost forgotten him. I think I was led to him by Colin Wilson. What a lovely place to live.

QuirkyLirky · 13/08/2022 22:08

Doc Martin's house is for sale.

Wow!! I'm off to Scandinavia.

Mumonthemove10 · 14/08/2022 09:15

Yes. Someone said rightmove was tinder for married people and never a truer word spoken. I also like to plan holidays that I’ll probably never go on. After looking at that Instagram account I’m now looking up Norwegian holidays…

Abraxan · 14/08/2022 09:33

I do this occasions but usually with the intention of 'building' the house on Sims.
I chose different locations and styles, at different budget points.

PutYourBackIntoit · 13/08/2022 09:18

I do this at least once a week.

I read the thread about affordable seaside towns with good schools and a sandy beach and went through thd list to decide which place we'd buy. And I'm on holiday 😳

It's almost like a form of meditation for me, it removes my mind from the daily grind and the Big Problems

I did that too!

QuirkyLirky · 13/08/2022 22:08

Over a million for a two bed house?!!!

KatharineofAragon · 14/08/2022 09:45

Ive been searching constantly from around 2016. We moved four years ago but I don't like the house so have continued searching...

GoatsandSheep · 14/08/2022 09:53

@KatharineofAragon i know! I had to check the price several times as I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me!
I love rightmove threads on here. I can lazily click on the links without having to do the searches myself!

TokyoTen · 14/08/2022 10:36

Totally do this! When I win Euromillions on Tuesday I'm going to immediately call the agent on Wednesday and offer full asking price on this: www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/125012882#/?channel=RES_BUY I've waited to do it for a couple of weeks now. Not sure why Euromillions aren't stepping up.

MummyJasmin · 14/08/2022 11:15

lol this is me! 😆

The setting is superb, but it's not my taste on the inside. I hope you get it, though. My first Lottery house stayed on the market for a whole year & fate didn't give me the win I needed. Luckily I screenshot the pix of it & when I stumble across them now, I still love that house.

The rooms in photo 8 is creepy! Maybe it's the lghting.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 14/08/2022 15:45

Just the one room in photo 8...

SheilasLemonade · 17/08/2022 10:23

Rightmove is my guilty pleasure. Other people, when asked, say ABBA or squeezing spots or smelling their own farts. My guilty pleasure is looking at one bed flats on RM and imagining I live there, alone, with no DH or DS.

mondaytosunday · 17/08/2022 11:19

Oh yea! I just spent a weekend in Bath and fell in love! So have spent ages on rightmove. The reality is I've only just moved back to London for my daughter's school and love my current house which I've almost finished renovating, but I still spend ages looking at other houses. It's a fun diversion plus informative.
