DH and I are arguing about the downstairs loo. It is a small room 2m by 1.2m. It is currently stripped back ready for plastering and then tiling. Obviously the room has a loo and will shortly have a vanity unit and sink too.

I have bought the following tiles which I love.

DH likes them too. But he says we can't have the same tiles on the walls as on the floor whereas I say we can. The plan is to tile the floor and then half way up the walls.

Please could you tell me who is right?

I think that would be a bit too much. I’d take a colour out of that and do plain on the walls, or do the wooden slats instead.

BruceAndNosh · 21/06/2022 21:42

If they were plainer tiles, yes.
But those are too busy to use on both floor and lower wall

Merryoldgoat · 21/06/2022 21:43

I’m team DH.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 21/06/2022 21:44

DH is right I’m afraid

How about the floor and just a bit behind the sink? I don't know why people tile half a room unless they suffer with frequent explosive diarrhea.

Oizys · 21/06/2022 21:48

sorry I think those tiles are too busy for both.

I thought the same then just husband reminded me that boys can be a tad adventurous with their direction 🤣

Twattergy · 21/06/2022 21:50

If course you can - it can actually make the room look bigger as you don't have a break between floor and wall colours. It's a more fashionable way to tile so your DH might not 'get' it. See if you can find photos to show what you mean. I did it in my bathroom with a patterned tile and it looks fab.

EntertainingandFactual · 21/06/2022 21:52

Ooh no… The tiles will look amazing on the floor OR wall but not both.

AliMonkey · 21/06/2022 21:54

I'm with DH given those tiles. Would be fine for plain tiles (though not my taste to tile the whole toilet - we've always just done floor and behind the sink).

Hucklead · 21/06/2022 21:54

I’d definitely do it your way!

Hucklead · 21/06/2022 21:58

I think it will look ace.

I’ve just seen some lovely same tile floor/wall ideas but the ones here aren’t far off what you have chosen (see pic).
It’s not a great look OP.
Too busy.

I love this too but the OP’s is a small room with no big white bag to break it up.

ancientgran · 21/06/2022 22:01

I love them, I think you plan is great.

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 21/06/2022 22:01

@Hucklead But that’s not patterned tiles up all walls - that just a tiled … feature wall Even then the bath breaks it up?? Matching a tiled … feature floor.

parietal · 21/06/2022 22:02

it will look good, go for it.

Puffalicious · 21/06/2022 22:03

Team DH. Too busy for a very small space.

Ganymedemoon · 21/06/2022 22:06

Yes you certainly can use the same tiles on floor as up the wall. I did it in my old very small bathroom, but they were plain tiles.

With these tiles I am in 2 minds. It could look quite quirky and fun on the one hand but it could also be too much.

I think it depends on what your overall style is for other aspects of the house.

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 21/06/2022 22:09

I think it’ll be kind of groovy and undergroundy. It’ll make it feel all floor. I’d love to see it when you’ve done it. What colour are you thinking above?

Hotnashsummerday · 21/06/2022 22:42

Nice tiles but I'm with your DH. It's too much in a small room for floor and wall

Sallypally0 · 21/06/2022 22:45

Yikes.
Having those on the wall and floor will be very weird. It would feel like you are walking into the inside of a fancy christmas present.

Strawberriesaregreat · 21/06/2022 22:49

Too small a room if no break in the pattern. Will look claustrophobic.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 21/06/2022 22:50

Team Dh. Plainer tile yes. Those no, it’s just too small a space. Put them on the floor or a single wall.

Mosaic123 · 21/06/2022 22:51

Compromise like I did.

The wall and one wall. The one behind the loo would be ideal.
