£750k to live over other people's garages!

I can't imagine a less appealing 'detached' house - £750k for a leasehold which is essentially a flat over 3 other people's garages! Winchester house prices are high but this seems insane.

Awful. And such small windows in the kitchen diner and bedrooms - so gloomy and makes me think of a prison cell!

Goldpaw · 10/05/2022 15:19

I've seen these before, and it seems madness to have a flat over garages like that. I wonder how popular they are?

ChessieFL · 10/05/2022 15:33

It must be really awkward for furniture too with all those sloping walls. Nowhere for bookcases etc!

FuglyHouse · 10/05/2022 15:44

It's also right next to the train line.

Chaoslatte · 10/05/2022 15:47

Awful! And would be really cold as well.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 10/05/2022 15:48

I expect the location is fantastic from what the spec says although I don't know the area. I don't mind it at all, size is good and good quality appliances. I've seen a lot less for more.

HeddaGarbled · 10/05/2022 15:54

I like that floating basin in the bathroom.

BarbaraofSeville · 10/05/2022 15:55

I really like it, but obviously its a lot of money.

I wonder if they built it to sell or if it was something like accommodation for a nanny or a stepping stone to independent living for older teenagers/young adult offspring.

ToiletGambles · 10/05/2022 15:57

I'd rather be over garages than over another flat with people and noise in!

DisplayPurposesOnly · 10/05/2022 15:59

Well that's what a mews is 😁Looks nice enough (albeit too gray for my liking).

Hallyup89 · 10/05/2022 16:27

Insane. Looks so oppressive, and right next to the railway line too. Horrible.

ShirleyPhallus · 10/05/2022 16:31

I’ve had an attic flat and they can be brilliant, I’ve never felt safer than I did when I lived there. It was really cosy and no problem at all finding furniture to fit.

But this looks oppressive. Like a very stylish version of an attic that some weirdo keeps people in in a horror film.

PipeScatter · 10/05/2022 16:37

That's someone's granny annex surely?!

Madness!

sjxoxo · 10/05/2022 16:39

“Mews” 😬😂
Estate agents in the UK are poets ha ha

Not even that, it's a flat above a garage 🤣

GeorgesMarvelousCalpol · 10/05/2022 18:34

Might be a granny flat, but it's more than 50% bigger than my house 😔

Itsmemaggie · 10/05/2022 18:36

As a flat I quite like it but the price is objectively ridiculous.

Somanyquestions1984 · 10/05/2022 18:39

funny I saw this yesterday on right move then saw this post just now and thought of this place!

Brownlongearedbat · 10/05/2022 19:33

And guess what colour it mostly is? Grey of course.

SwedishEdith · 10/05/2022 19:36

There are barely any views out of the windows.

FurierTransform · 10/05/2022 19:48

I did look at a couple of properties in this style (coach house I think it was called) when I was a FTBer; as an alternative to a traditional flat I think it's much better. Not £750k though :D

Gottoomuchgoingon · 10/05/2022 22:12

Bloody hell you can get something way nicer around here for less

That’s not a mews! That description of a ‘mews’ is, as another poster said, estate agent BS. These are proper mews (old converted stables usually).
