Who designed that then? Someone who doesn't eat at home, I guess.

Trying to think where the washing machine would go, very small indeed

Getyourarseofffthequattro · 11/04/2022 22:35

Ours was a similar size in our old house. Didn't have a full size fridge (we had a tabletop fridge!) let alone a washing machine Grin we knocked through!

DisforDarkChocolate · 11/04/2022 22:38

I once rented a flat where the kitchen was about half the size. I managed fine. It's the open plan part that would put me off.

Boomerwang · 11/04/2022 22:38

The price of that?! Jesus

swapsicles · 11/04/2022 22:41

Mines about the same although the space on the left is the main hallway and I do have some wall cupboards, less worktop space though!

SwedishEdith · 11/04/2022 22:42

Why have the toilet door open like that? I suppose you could knock it through to the back of the garage and have space for a utility and toilet there?

SilverBirchWithout · 11/04/2022 22:42

I guess the downstairs toilet was put in at a later date when it was ‘modernised’ at the expense of kitchen space. Also made worse by making it open plan, if wall between kitchen and dining area you would at least be able to have wall cupboards. Terrible layout.

greenmoney · 11/04/2022 22:42

The loo so close to the kitchen is awful. I guess you could multi task.

GrumpyPanda · 11/04/2022 22:43

Ridiculous layout.

Boomerwang · 11/04/2022 22:43

I rented a flat with a scandinavian front room which is basically kitchen to one side, living room to the other but no wall or door in between.

How on earth is that house over £350,000!! Our first house was similar in size although not lay out and it was 135,000!!

merryhouse · 11/04/2022 22:47

It's workable. Especially given the larger open-plan space.

I'm more concerned about the loo directly off it, tbh. I thought that had been banned by building regulations.

RandomMess · 11/04/2022 22:47

Our house was much the same footprint but the downstairs loo was in the porch meaning we had a massive U shaped kitchen instead.

chisanunian · 11/04/2022 22:48

I'm not entirely sure that would pass building regulations.

SilverBirchWithout · 11/04/2022 22:50

Actually looking at the back outside photograph it looks as if they changed the location of the kitchen, previous position of patio doors has been bricked up. And I assume there was a hallway where the front entrance was.
Personally I would be really concerned about how structurally safe it is having knocked all the internal walls down.

Octomore · 11/04/2022 22:50

Whoever added the toilet made a big mistake. They've shrunk the kitchen, but also - who wants a toilet opening directly into the living space?

SilverBirchWithout · 11/04/2022 22:52

I know the area well, this estate in Witney is one of the cheaper areas in the town! Parts of it flood!

DrMadelineMaxwell · 11/04/2022 22:52

My kitchen is tiny. 2 base units and a cooker. 2 wall units. THREE doorways. But we are constrained by the walls and we do benefit from a pantry (one of the doorways) where the fridge is, as well as having the washer and drier and freezer in the utility in a garage.

It is ridiculous that they have crammed the kitchen into that space when there are no walls limiting it and where they could have got rid of the toilet, or not put one in, and made better use of the space.

LemonViolet · 11/04/2022 22:54

That’s not so bad at all! You should see some studio flats in London Grin
There’s space for a proper fridge freezer there, I expect washing machine is probably in the garage. It’s open plan so you’d have your dining table right there and could have some freestanding cupboards. There’s bloody loads of space.

drum123 · 11/04/2022 22:56

The price is ridiculous, but so are all the prices in the area.

It's not that small.

TibetanTerrah · 11/04/2022 22:59

My kitchen is smaller than that race to the bottom

In an L shape I have a hob, washing machine, and fridge all the same height. Top of the fridge is used as a 'worktop'. I have one corner of actual worktop space, then the other part of the L is just the sink and draining board Shock

I'd take a photo but a major unexpected additional downside of the micro-kitcehn is that it constantly looks messy and cluttered with a single mug on the draining board and a jar of coffee left out Grin

Blossomtoes · 11/04/2022 22:59

There’s space to add more units and worktop. Washing machine in the garage. I’d hate the entire ground floor being open plan though.

ChazzaGirl · 11/04/2022 23:00

Same here. I thought you had to have more than one door between a kitchen and toilet? Of course it may have changed over the years, but I really wouldn’t fancy having a loo that close to my cooking area.
Soringhaze · 11/04/2022 23:00

I thought you couldn't have a loo open into a kitchen? It's so gross!
