Well our house finally went live this afternoon on Rightmove. Massive thank you for all the top tips I found on here and for all the great advice about decluttering and staging. I am very pleased with how it looked in the end and fingers crossed we find a buyer soon.

It's so pretty.

FloBot7 · 15/03/2022 11:20

Oh I really love the advice to make it look like a nice air BnB. I have no sense of style so need to work out this lovely happy medium between clutter and sparse with no personality Grin

OutlookStalking · 15/03/2022 11:23

I love your courtyard garden. We have a bigger garden (still small) but I would love you to come and do it a make-over. And the house for that matter....!!! Have you thought about a change in career?!

FitAt50 · 15/03/2022 11:27

@GrannyBloomers

That has to be one of the best presented homes I have ever seen. Not some grey and cream soulless palace but the photos suggest warmth and character. I especially like the eclectic mix of furniture and use of colour.
What a truly lovely thing to say. I was rather worried that it would look old fashioned due to all my second hand ebay furniture. Really optomistic now due to all the positive comments and will let you all know how we get on. xx

I have fire place envy.

Kipperandarthur · 15/03/2022 12:10

It looks fabulous it really does. You’ve also made excellent use of the garden area to make a small space really appealing.

I so love a good butchers and one right next door - even better.

Good luck going forward.

CorpusCallosum · 15/03/2022 12:15

Great job OP!

nearlyspringyay · 15/03/2022 12:18

It's lovely, I've got those cushions too:)

AgathaMystery · 15/03/2022 12:20

OP I love your house!!

We have lots of very similar items. ESP the wooden bed (got from a skip) & the habitat click (2004 purchase I think). Good luck with your move.

GlitterBiscuits · 15/03/2022 12:43

Please come and stage mine!
I'm not selling, I just want you to work your magic.

Truly lovely home.

MangoLipstick · 15/03/2022 12:45

Beautiful home op.

I love the little courtyard bit outside, it’s stunning.

I can’t see you waiting too long for a sale. Good luck with your move.

Stillafatknacker · 15/03/2022 12:57

Omg I love it!! It's absolutely stunning, I'd love to live in your beautiful house! Good luck, I'm sure you won't have a problem selling it.

AwayInMyMind · 15/03/2022 13:42

Absolutely lovely ! Some very lucky person will snap that up !

Halllyup17 · 15/03/2022 13:52

It's beautifully decorated but the location would be a no for me, plus the tiny 'garden' and the fact that you only bought it 3 years ago is off-putting.

Good luck with the sale though. I'm sure someone will love it.

PeacheyPeach · 15/03/2022 14:00

It's absolutely gorgeous 😍 I'd move in and want you to keep all your things!! I love the little extension off your dining room. Is that heated or is it more of a conservatory??

It has underfloor heating as was built at the same time as the he downstairs was converted to underfloor heating. Its our favourite place in the house. We are only selling as moving to Glasgow, our plan was for this to be our forever home as we love everything about it.

It's beautiful OP. If it were in two year's time when we're hoping to move to York then I'd definitely want to come and look at it. We're staying at the No.1 Guesthouse in a few weeks so will practically be able to wave to you!

Is the market crazy there? I keep looking at things coming on prices seem to have gone up massively since we first decided it was our long term plan a couple of years ago.

We had sunday lunch there a few weeks ago and it was amazingly good. The hotel is just stunning inside and I took a couple of cheeky pics as inspiration for future home. Market is pretty wild. We bought 3 years ago for £365k but this was during the brexit slow down. Hoped for £400k selling price and we amazed when 3 different agents all said £450k. Am sure it will slow down soon.

And that boys and girl's...
is how it's done.

I think we need to save this down for all those 'my house isn't selling, come tell me why' posts. We just need to point them here. (and of course, tell them to reduce the price. Smile )

Good luck OP. You have done everything you can! Flowers

OohRahhMaki123 · 15/03/2022 16:51

@FitAt50 firstly - what a fantastic eye you have!

Can I also be cheeky and ask what is the paint colour - is it the same throughout?

I also moved up to Glasgow and the period properties are insanely good value and generally really well preserved so I hope you love life and can work your magic up here :)

EarringsandLipstick · 15/03/2022 16:58

I think this house looks like the fabulous houses that we see in Sunday night BBC / ITV dramas! The ones you think no real people live in! And here, they do ...

It's so lovely. I'm so envious.

I know you've 'staged' it, but the design, layout & decor are fabulous, it's not like you've just made it look like that for selling, it's truly lovely. My ideal home!

I'm laughing that someone expressed surprise at the price. I'm in Ireland so don't have the same knowledge but do know that houses in Yorkshire would be cheaper than eg south of England. But you'd only find a house like that in a few parts of Ireland & it would be very spendy! Even converted to €, it seems like a great price.

Thank you - I just steal ideas that I see in hotels or cafes etc. If I see something I like I take a sneaky picture of it and try to copy. The paint is Crown emulsion and is called Snowfall. Its the same all over the house. I am originally from Clydebank and can't wait to get back to Glasgow.

I really like it too, you have done a great job. The garden room is gorgeous, and I'd spend many a happy hour there. My only criticism, and it is teeny, is that I don't like the EA's photo of your sink with the hoover in the background.
Fabulous job though, will go and see if I can find your before pics now :)

Yes – the visible Hoover was the giveaway to me that the house might be small, no cleaning cupboard/cupboard of household bollocks. Eminently practical to have it on the wall and we have our handheld out at all times, but for viewings I’d be tempted to hide it and take down the fitting that hooks it to the wall, just to sell the lifestyle you’ve done so well with throughout the rest of the house. I think most people are still looking for more space post-pandemic so it’s still a game of creating that illusion.

Let us know how you get on, though!
