What are your taps like?
Do you have a shower hose?

Need to buy a bath and I don't know where to start!

Watching with interest!

TattiePants · 19/02/2022 14:58

Free standing bath with mixer tap plus shower attachment. Prior to this I’ve had 2 roll top baths with traditional taps (including shower hose).

Yes - bath and mixer tap plus shower attachment. All Victorian style.

camperqueen54 · 19/02/2022 15:01

Haven't got a great pic of taps I'm afraid

@TattiePants would you mind telling me where you bought that bath please? It’s just the size and shape I’ve been looking for!

MrsBungle · 19/02/2022 15:04

I have a floor standing tap with shower hose.

We have this, it’s a waterfall freestanding one over a roll top bath.

I think you can buy them cheaper.

TattiePants · 19/02/2022 15:15

@RomeoMcFlourish it’s from Bathstore but a few years ago and they’ve now been taken over by Homebase so don’t know if they still carry the same stock ranges. It’s huge and at 5ft 11 I can comfortably lie down in it.

LittleEsme · 19/02/2022 15:19

Really grateful for your pics! Thanks!

I wanted a roll top but I prefer not to have a bath with legs. I did however, want an enamel or stone bath but my build is crippling me financially so I'm now opting for acrylic.

Are standard sizes 1700mm the general for UK? DH is a foot taller than me at 6'4" and I want one to suit us both.

These all look lovely but I often wonder when I see these put in on TV programmes how you clean round them or mop up water from the kids.
In the right (large) bathroom they look amazing but it seems to be the trend to fit them in spaces that don't seem appropriate

Ours has a gap between the bath and the wall that easily fits a mop (and a towel to soak up toddler bathtime overflow!)
MissFritton65 · 19/02/2022 17:57

Personally I think you need a reasonable sized room to allow for a gap around the bath to allow for mopping and cleaning. This is mine in our ensuite.

Nodding along. Children and roll top baths do not mix well. Been there, done that. I banned them.
TattiePants · 19/02/2022 18:39

You do need to leave enough space to clean behind. I can easily get a hover or mop behind mine.

NotwatchingSpooks · 19/02/2022 19:45

TattiePants please can I ask what the name is of your blind fabric and where you bought it ?
It’s just what I’m looking for.
Thanks

BrioLover · 19/02/2022 20:27

We had one in our old house but there wasn't enough space around it (despite the bathroom being massive!) and it had feet so it was a nightmare to clean. The ones without feet and with a decent space around them are more sensible as you don't have to try to get under them and into all the little nooks and crannies between the feet. Plus the feet collect dust!

Helpthishouseworkhater · 19/02/2022 20:31

These are all stunning

PurBal · 19/02/2022 20:37

@camperqueen54 do you mind if I ask how big your shower tray is and what’s the gap between the bath and shower? We are in the process of redoing the bathroom and can’t work out the spacing.

I'm 6'3, Dh is 6'4, and we've gone for an 1800x800.

Love this bath - where is it from?
TattiePants · 19/02/2022 21:52

@NotwatchingSpooks it’s actually a duvet cover from Made.com! The window is really wide so I would have needed double the amount of fabric and if would have needed 2 joins which made it over £600 for a bathroom blind! This came to less than £200 using a local curtain maker and heavy lining.

camperqueen54 · 19/02/2022 22:00

Will have to measure it. Will get back to you

NotwatchingSpooks · 19/02/2022 22:14

Thank you all TattiePants that’s very clever

MsSquiz · 19/02/2022 22:19

@Shmithecat2 it's this one from Victoria & Albert

vandabaths.com/en-gb/our-range/freestanding-baths/barcelona-1800/

We almost went for a blue coloured one, but I'm glad we didn't now because it's only the top half of the room that is dark blue so we can change the colour at any point without redoing the whole room!
