Just that really! Somewhere between grey and beige? I’ve got paralysis by analysis so need some outside opinions! Thanks

Crown, snowfall.

A good few years ago I was decorating a house, and had just ordered my carpet. I held a party in the empty undecorated room with about 20-25 guests, and one of the party games was to decide which of the 18 tester pot colours would suit the (beige, it was the 1980s) carpet. I'd painted a large square on the wall with a number above for each colour, and we had 3 or 4 large pieces of carpet sample.
People had to give 5 points to their favourite down to 1 point for least favourite colour.

The entire room was totally shocked to discover Magnolia was the out and out winner with a 20 point lead over all the other colours.

do you want warmth or cold

Ariela · 09/01/2022 14:31

Personally I prefer Jasmine White (Dulux colour) to magnolia any day

ivykaty44 · 09/01/2022 14:32

Magnolia is a cool colour, it doesn't give warmth, but great in a sunny warm house

Crucible · 09/01/2022 14:34

Crown Aged White, a timeless classic.

Sausagis · 09/01/2022 14:43

Replaced all our magnolia (a lot!) with dulux Cotton white and it's much better.

FazeleysRoyale · 09/01/2022 14:45

Dulux Egyptian Cotton.

We have this all through the living room, hall, stairs, landing and master bedroom. Same carpet throughout these areas.

It's more of a papery beige than grey though.

Thanks all! Will take a look at all of those. I like the look/idea of a colour like F&B Skimming Stone, but would that be too dark for throughout?

Magnolia was the most popular colour in the eighties, it was todays grey. It’s nearly forty years ago. But ghr eighties were defined by magnolia,

I have pebble shore by dulux. A lovely warm greige.

I've just done Skimming Stone in two rooms. It totally depends on the light in the room. In some rooms it looks practically white, in others it looks like muddy beige. We put it in two rooms with lots of light and I love it.

BonnyandPoppy · 10/01/2022 11:19

Little green French grey pale number 161

Frenchfurze · 10/01/2022 11:24

In our last house, I painted the entire thing in F and B Pointing, which is a warm white.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 10/01/2022 11:28

We have Skimming Stone in most rooms, I think it's very versatile. I love it. Although thinking of changing our sitting room to Great White.

We had Pointing in our downstairs loo and it just looked like magnolia to me.

DidgeDoolittle · 10/01/2022 11:33

Dulux Egyptian Cotton is brilliant. A sort of pale, grey/beige. I love it.

Littlecaf · 10/01/2022 12:47

Dulux Timeless is a good warm white
Dulux Cotton white is a nice skirting/ceiling/cornice contrast.

CointreauVersial · 10/01/2022 12:50

Dulux Timeless

upaladderagain · 10/01/2022 12:55

Seldom Seen by Crown. Have it in hsl on its own and in sitting room paired with dark blue. It's grey but fresher than most, with a slightly bluish hint.

sunkendreams · 10/01/2022 12:56

It's hard to recommend as it all depends on light, and colours that look lovely in someone else's room might be awful on yours, which is by far the most irritating part of choosing paint! That said, I've used Dulux Timeless as a base in every house I've lived in and it has always presented as a lovely warm white (technically it's a cream but there's no yellow undertone) which I've rarely painted over. Not quite what you asked for but it goes with everything and you can always add colour to individual rooms later.
