@whataboutbob I'm renovating as well! Started beginning of August and will be in 18th December! It's a 4 bed semi.

Looks fabulous @MissFritton65. Love the ceiling height and all of that glass 🤩

Ffs to @Callmejudith's ridiculous rooflight people. What an absolute nightmare!!!

@whataboutbob welcome 👋 We're refurbishing, no extension. The house looks totally different inside. It's really astonishing.

I think I'll build a house next time. It's beyond frustrating working within the confines of where the joists are or where the plumbing is. There seem to be work arounds for everything, but it costs a fortune!! I've turned the staircase 180 degrees and moved a toilet 90 degrees. With hindsight I should have left it all in the exact same position cos of hassle and spend 😂

Hi @niki26 we started 1st September and moving back in 13th December 🤞

I'm feeling like a Christmas grinch though, as I would usually be decorated for Christmas by end of November. We had 7 trees last year (4 minis, 2 mediums and 1 big). I'm not sure I have the energy for 1 tree this year 😂

Hi @NewHouseNewMe 👋 I think I'll still be on the thread next year. I need to overhaul the garden and build an office shed thingy.

P.s. I need to change my name to "newhouseshitterme" 😂 I lost a big clump of hair about a month ago and had a rash on my arm!! This is so fucking stressful. My advice is keep up the self care during the works. I've put myself at the bottom of the pile, which is ridiculous really as I need to stay strong. Anyway vitamins and iron and a bit more sleep are helping. And 🍫 and 🍷 😆

@PoshWatchShitShoes I completely agree!!! It's my daughters 6th birthday on 1st December so the last few years I've put the tree up whilst she's at nursery and now school, for her to come home too....it's odd to not do our usual tradition! But we didn't have an Halloween decs up this year either as it's all in storage - so it's been a bit different all round. I'm going to put the decs up in the new house - ready for the 18th but it does mean that we won't have decorations up where we are now - I'm compensating with hallmark Christmas movies instead.

We are very lucky that my husband has a two bed flat above his workshop - so we actually sold our house and moved in here. Then completed on our purchase 4 days later. So we are away from the dust and chaos and it's completely rent free.... every couple of weeks I have a bit of a meltdown but then I realise how lucky we are and calm down...until the next time!

Our boss guy did suggest moving out and I was all like nah it’ll be fine….
It was fine when we did the roof and loft. Mostly, cold though and snow leaked through the ceilings at one point 🥶

But this is a bigger job, and haven’t even really start in the house as such yet.

The plasterers are back and cracking on.
The window people are here for the last skylight, new back door and replacing a panel in the lantern.

I’m off out to meet friends for breakfast, good luck today everyone!

On site, urgently need a wee. Refuse to use builders' stinky portaloo. Need to buy a she-wee 😂

Report
PoshWatchShitShoes · 19/11/2021 12:01

I just used the portaloo. It smells like farm manure 🤢

Report
Callmejudith · 19/11/2021 12:15

LOL Posh stay out of the portaloo!

Flooring dude is here, he's going to start in the lounge, I'm super excited. We have the original floorboards in there which were the reason we bought the house but they are full of holes and so drafty. We're basically sticking engineered wood on top in exactly the same colour but the slates facing a different direction Smile

Haha @Callmejudith it was so gross!!

My kitchen is being fitted as we speak 👏

The joiner is starting the panelling in the bathrooms. Glad I saw this as I've asked them to make it 10cm higher and then there's a bull nose edge on top and skirting along the bottom.

The decorators have started on the ceilings 👏 I'm just about to send all my paint colours to the builder. That's it then....no more changes 🙈

@PoshWatchShitShoes 🤢
20yrs of building sites has given me the ability to hold a wee for a ridiculous amount of time although some larger sites have a ladies portaloo which is usually locked and kept for girls (and management) which is usually marginally better.

@Callmejudith what colour flooring have you chosen? I'm having our wood floor repaired, sanded and varnished, but no idea on colour yet. Maybe dark-ish. Endless decisions

@PoshWatchShitShoes I just squealed at those pics - the wood looks stunning.

Our floor is called Caramel - it's dark and quite a lot of reddy tones but I love it.

We are delighted with the space it's created. It was originally a conservatory, dining room and small kitchen. We have gone out a metre further than the conservatory but it's made a much more useable space.
