ARGH to the doors @Hothammock. When I was having door drama I watched so many videos on YouTube of them squeezing the doors in to impossible tight spaces so I hope yours will be doable.

We now have the front room floor done and I'm desperate to get back into that space. Really need sofas and trying to decide between Snug and IKEA

We’ve already done full rewire and new boiler so hopefully that heads off some of the issues, but it is an old house with all sorts of quirks. Thanks for all the replies, I do love following this threads.

A shoe mezzanine - living the dream!!

I've just found velvet IKEA sofa covers on Etsy - what a brilliant idea!

@Callmejudith I've ordered the IKEA Farlov for our kitchen snug and playroom sofas. It's always out of stock for home delivery, but I called the customer service line after checking website multiple times over past couple of months and they found me stock and are sending it to me. The covers I wanted were out of stock, but I'm ordering different ones from Bemz now.

Just thought I'd mention as you saw similar no stock online.

Our builder is based in Worcester, Prestige lofts. I would recommend actually. They don't just do lofts, ours isn't a loft.

@PoshWatchShitShoes we are delighted with it so far! The exposed oak roof truss has still got to go in and we are waiting on the railings for the juliet balcony.
Our joiner is going to make us a modern 4 poster too.....although not sure when that will be done!

Oh wow MrsF I am v jealous of that room and the shoe storage.

@PoshWatchShitShoes we are in London but I spend a lot of time cycling in Surrey (well when I'm not waiting for builders), I might do a drive by! Fingers crossed for the bath.

I've just found another cool thing - plug in pendant lights that you can configure lights

These might solve the issue of our dark breakfast bar and I could also use them for light up paper stars at Christmas

I had a very similar staircase cupboard that our builders "found" for us too in the last house. We used ours for suitcases and it was seriously one of the most useful storage cupboards we had. I do prefer the handbag and shoe option though! @MissFritton65

I can't wait for the floor guy to be finished in that room so I can lie on it lol

Plasterer no.2 is here and it turns out I know him from a previous project. He's also a decorator so have asked him today to do the decorating which I had been unable to organise due to all the delays - he says as soon as the plaster is dry he'll crack on with the decorating and as long as we don't mind him working evenings and weekends he'll squeeze it in ASAP. Yay first bit of good news I've had for a bit.

Bath has arrived!!!! It only took 16.5 weeks. It's being checked over for any issues.

Bad news though is that the curtain lady is in hospital!!! Fucks sale at the situation, obviously not her. She was supposed to visit Friday to measure, but pushed it back to Monday, so it's not done. I'm annoyed, as she was perfectly fine till yesterday, so should have turned up when she originally said 🙄 I can't order the fabric now until I've got the final measurements 🤦🏼‍♀️

So fed up of trying to get this all sorted for Christmas by ordering everything in shitting August. Fed up!!
