Oops thought it would be something like “ sensual cappuccino “ by Dulux or “ dead wood “ by F&B.

Callmejudith · 06/12/2021 20:10

Proper LOL!

PoshWatchShitShoes · 06/12/2021 21:30

@whataboutbob 😂

Indecisivelurcher · 07/12/2021 06:40

@whataboutbob sending positive vibes for ikea this afternoon - go kick some butty!

PoshWatchShitShoes · 07/12/2021 07:06

@LivingInABuildingSite I've rented a storage unit for a month. Today is the big move of everything out of the house🤞🤞🤞

Hope ikea goes smoothly @whataboutbob

whataboutbob · 07/12/2021 09:06

Thanks guys for your encouragement it really has perked me up. The kitchen fitter is coming too which is a big bonus. My mind goes in to shutdown after about 30 minutes of clicking around an onscreen kitchen planner. Will report back.

PoshWatchShitShoes · 07/12/2021 09:54

Picked up Luton can. Pretty sure my builders hate me today 😬 It will be so much quicker and easier for them to finish once all of our stuff is out!!!

This is my big mistake of the build. I should have got storage from day 1!!

@PoshWatchShitShoes all our stuff is here and it definitely complicates things but since we are currently in month 11 and I can't see the whole job being completed before March as there is a lot of outside work to do; I would have hated to be living with the minimum for months on end!
Our kitchen is going in today so I'm very excitedSmile!

PoshWatchShitShoes · 07/12/2021 10:57

That's super exciting @MissFritton65!!! Hope the new kitchen gets installed quickly and perfectly.

At the storage place, I might just live here. I prefer it to my house right now 😂

The old plumber got fired for making a few mistakes previously. We just found another one. FFS. New tiles need to be cut 😭

@PoshWatchShitShoes it's so annoying having paid all this money! Since we moved back in a Friday, I've started a snagging list and we haven't even got 1 room completely finished! Hopefully they are all easiest and quickly fixed but it's so frustrating!

Indecisivelurcher · 07/12/2021 11:44

Love this term snagging, it's new to me and it's defo what we've got going on this week.

Callmejudith · 07/12/2021 12:45

Grrrrrrrrrrr on the plumber @PoshWatchShitShoes

Loving the idea of living in a storage unit.

Good luck @whataboutbob let us know how you get on.

Still obsessed with our lights over here. Also confirmed with our flooring guy that he'll complete the hallway floor after Christmas. It seems silly to rush it and risk it getting ruined.

Still need to decide on paint colours! DH just wants to be boring and go white - no way but I can't decide on other options. Might do a thread!

The visit to IKEA was exhausting, 2.5 hours of re planning the kitchen going through every conceivable item, checking what was ordered and what we actually need. About £1000 difference for me to pay, and hope they take the surplus items back and refund me. The way I feel now I nearly don’t care, as long as the new kitchen gets going. Thank goodness my ( very bright) kitchen fitter was there as my brain would have imploded without him. Tomorrow he’s back at the flat, going through every single item and double checking IKEA’s list. The level of detail required for this is amazing, but I don’t need to tell you that, you are all pros on here! Fingers crossed for everyone this week. @PoshWatchShitShoes hope the removal went ok today, you must be shattered!

Indecisivelurcher · 07/12/2021 22:11

Hope you've had a chilled evening after that Bob!

LivingInABuildingSite · 07/12/2021 22:15

That ikea trip sounds so draining! Hope it works out from now on.

I love the storage unit, feels so tidy!

Kitchen progressing here, but slowly. More bits arrived. Hob arrived, looks huge!

Off out most of tomorrow so will leave them to it.

PoshWatchShitShoes · 07/12/2021 22:29

Yay to getting through the appt @whataboutbob. Sounds draining!! Fingers crossed for you now.

@LivingInABuildingSite looking forward to seeing your kitchen photos!!

Tomorrow is a BIG day...worktops are being fitted, as is the staircase, as is the new front door. Supposedly... I'm going to be dancing around the site from 12pm getting antsy 🤞😬🤣

Need to confirm post build clean!!! There's so much dust 🙈 Still haven't ordered sockets and switches eeekkk

MissFritton65 · 07/12/2021 22:43

Evening all! Kitchen progressing well here apparently we can start putting things into cupboards tomorrow night! Decorator has misted 5 rooms so really pleasing day. @Indecisivelurcher the snagging list is still growing!Grin
@PoshWatchShitShoes I've got 12hrs cleaning booked for the weekend before Christmas that I'm delighted about.
@Whataboutbob 🤞 it's all such a stressful process but we are all living in hope that it will be fantastic at the end!

PoshWatchShitShoes · 08/12/2021 09:02

I've returned the giant van. No accidents phew 😊

Trepidation about today's site activities. Please please please can I not hate the stuff that arrives/gets fitted 🤞😬🙈

Awake since 3:30am. It's only 15 sleeps till Christmas. Will anyone on here actually be done by then??!

wonkylegs · 08/12/2021 09:22

@MissFritton65 12 hrs cleaning sounds like heaven - can't book a good cleaner for love nor money round here so going to have find some hours to do it myself (asking the kids to do anything but their own rooms is more painful and work than it's worth). Not sure when these spare hours are coming from.

This morning has been chaos - if I didn't have an awful lot of work to do I'd be eyeing up the wine!
Joiners turned up at 8, builder at 8.15 just as I was trying to get a reluctant 5yo dressed. DH was very "busy" and disappeared to work as soon as the joiners appeared.
Joiners needed a walk round outside and discussion regarding the details for the cladding (it's slightly complicated)
Builder needed to discuss the invoice he sent me last night - they've invoiced for work not yet completed and some of it needed querying, as well as me telling him it would be paid once completed not before. He also needed to discuss the outstanding work.
5yo kept coming to the back door, generally naked and asking questions about his Lego advent calendar.
I had to literally wrestle a small child into clothes, shoes, coat etc whilst shouting instructions to tradespeople out the back door then run (I'm not fit enough to run) to school! Builder has now gone with a promise to return & sort lots of bitty items next week.
I assume the 13yo has gone to school because he disappeared in the chaos
I'm knackered and now have to start work.
Oh that's the joiner at the door again....

Callmejudith · 08/12/2021 09:24

Oh wow lots of stuff happening today! I’m getting my booster and that’s about it lol

@whataboutbob that sounds utterly exhausting but thank goodness for a good kitchen fitter. We have random bits left from our install that I’ve no idea what to do with!

OP posts:
Callmejudith · 08/12/2021 09:26

We won’t be fully done by Christmas but will be 95% there I think.

Some good news here. DIY kitchens have brought my delivery date forward by 3 weeks to the 3 January week. Wishing I had got on with that painting during my week of annual leave now. Weekends are busy till then too. I think I'll just paint round the bit the units are going for now Smile
I notice you all have your flooring and skirting etc done before the units are fitted. My UFH (electric) and floor fitters (LVP) all said to fit the kitchen first. What do you think is best?
