Wow can't believe how much of a difference skirting board makes!

Not such a good today. It looked like IKEA had completely cocked the delivery up as many items on the plan were not delivered, with other random items being delivered. I got on the phone to IKEA ( impossible to get through to the kitchen dept so had to speak to someone at customer services) and spent 55 minutes going through every item. Then got cut off. However, I realised afterwards that I had given my kitchen fitter the wrong plan and list of items . The revised plan from the final meeting ( I had 3 in store) has now been emailed to him along with an apology. I’m sure there will still be discrepancies but we’ ll have to deal with it next week. Also been speaking to carpet fitter re fitting the vinyl flooring and another kitchen fitter as mine doesn’t like to fit worktops. Friday is my day off work and it’s nearly all been spent on refurb management!

Plasterer pretty much done, only being held up by a delay in getting the scaffold down so he can get to the awkward bits but they are both going to come on Saturday to finish for the electrician to come in for second fix on Monday/Tuesday
They delivered the cedar cladding today it smells amazing and is making the garage smell gorgeous, I keep going out to sniff it. Unfortunately the lorry driver would only deliver to the roadside as he said he wouldn't be able to get it down our very long drive (this must be because he's a crap driver because compared with most of our delivery lorries it was quite small), luckily DH had the day off so could move it as there are no trades here today, and there's no way I could have done it on my own.
Very envious of the beautiful kitchens and floors - they look great.

My half kitchen is done! And my patio! Still got some little things to do like a down pipe, under counter lights, a couple of shelves. So close...

Looks great @Indecisivelurcher it must be so exciting seeing it come together.

How do I politely explain to friends and family that no one is actually allowed to use the new bathrooms and that the range cooker is just for display? 😂 Just joking, but I'm already stressing about using my beautiful new shiny white work tops!!

@PoshWatchShitShoes what are the shiny worktops made of? If they are silestone then they should be almost bombproof - we've tested our cream ones throughly over 8yrs and they still look brand new.

Loving the photos

Can I please solicit some advice? My kitchen fitter isn’t confident with placing worktops and I had someone lined up ( recommended by the agents who usually manage the letting) but after he visited he just sent a terse email saying the job wasn’t for him. There is apparently an issue with getting the worktop up to the 1st floor flat as there’s a few tight corners in the stairwell. Don’t know where to go next to find someone. There’s a big balcony and I, wondering if the worktop could be lifted in. Any advice welcome!

@Callmejudith luckily it hasn’t been templated. I asked him to recommend someone but I’m not holding my breath. The true horror of the situation has now dawned on me: the final plan designed by IKEA is absolutely not what I wanted. My bad for not checking carefully but I made it clear I wanted their 1st plan with a few items removed, and the final planner I meet with via Teams produced something very different. I’m now thrown on their mercy for them to change the items. So tired of it, but I’m back to checking their online appointments daily and trying to go in to sort this out. .

I'm so sorry @whataboutbob that you're in this situation. I really hope Ikea will honour it or you can at least return the wrong items and buy new.

Thanks @Callmejudith I just hope they’ll take back and refund the unwanted items . Such a list of cock ups already eg with delivery, planning, I dread to think how difficult it’s going to be swapping items . I’m never doing an ikea kitchen again this has broken me.

Skirtings and architrave all done here - looks fab. He's done the utility and WC door - so nice to shut the door on the washing machine.

I'm obsessed with the idea of painting the skirting navy to match the kitchen cabinets.

Anyway Judith well done on getting this far with your project and thanks for your support. I’ll get there one day!
