No thanks

If I could afford £650k for a house I'd buy this one:

Obviously no use to anyone needing to be physically present in London!

TalkedTooMuchStayedTooLong · 17/09/2021 23:45

I used to live around the corner from that street, and despite being gobsmacked by what my old house is now worth (really should not have sold that), I think it's overpriced given how narrow the house is and that a large part of it is a glorified shed!

MummyJ12 · 17/09/2021 23:48

It looks like it’s breathing in!
Just looking at it makes me claustrophobic.

Droite · 18/09/2021 00:00

@DontCallMeBaby

“Stone's Throw Away From Magnificent Transport Links” Magnificent! Estate agents are a breed apart.

I think it’s really cute, but the price is batshit.

That's definitely Estate Agent exaggeration. It's around 15 minutes' walk to the station, so rather more than a stone's throw, and the station isn't on the underground.
nzeire · 18/09/2021 00:01

Regardless of size, area, price, I think it’s awful, from the grim facade, to the shed look. You have an opportunity to do something incredible, a start from scratch project and you build that? Shame.
I doubt very much it was on grand designs

titchy · 18/09/2021 00:22

Honestly - love it!

Sd352 · 18/09/2021 00:30

It’s cute but other parts of London would get you so much more:

mobear · 18/09/2021 00:41

I looked at flats in that road and nearby roads years ago, didn’t particularly like the area, so a no from me.

DPotter · 18/09/2021 00:54

There's a lot of photoshopping going on here..........................

Konyeshno · 18/09/2021 01:20

It's crazy to spend all that money on a house so tiny you have to build somewhere to actually live in the garden!

Member589500 · 18/09/2021 01:57

I used to live in that road!
It’s a little overpriced but if the garden space was insulated enough to be useable that would let out for at least £800.
Parking in that road is a massive huge pain in the arse. Location is OK but definitely not great for stations.
2 bed terraces are 6-750 ish in West Twick so although it’s small the garden room makes up for it.

UrbanRambler · 18/09/2021 02:22

I quite like it, but think the narrowness of the rooms would give it quite a cramped feel, and noise from neighbours each side could be quite invasive in all the rooms, depending on insulation (or lack of) on the party walls. The price seems crazy, but that's London for you.

The garden annexe looks like it was done to quite a high spec, and could suit a couple who want to move an elderly relative in there, or someone who has a grown up child who can't live independently for some reason, but could enjoy some level of privacy there, while having parental support nearby.

Monty27 · 18/09/2021 02:38

It's Twickenham prices. Fair enough.
It's really quirky and very nice except for the front which is bloody awful 😃

Persipan · 18/09/2021 05:25

I rather like it. We all know many, many more homes need to be built than currently exist; I think infill houses are a worthwhile part of that - not adding to endless sprawl; a way to build close to existing infrastructure.

I can't comment on the pricing as I'm not in London and it's not fair to make those kinds of "round here that would buy me a castle with a moat full of swans" comparisons - if it's a bit overpriced for where it is I'm sure that'll shake out. But as a home, I could make that work - and I say that as someone who likes space. I feel like you'd use the garden a lot, and the garden room makes that workable by giving you some additional - and more normally-proportioned - living space there, along with somewhere to put guests. I'd be having an open-minded look, if it were near me and at a price I could afford.

miltonj · 18/09/2021 06:05

Yes I like the house, it's ok. I'd never pay more than 150 for a 2 bed though. But then I don't live in London.

LemonViolet · 18/09/2021 06:12

My neighbour had planning permission denied for a single bedroom bungalow of similar kind of proportions at the end of her garden (would have had had access to street independently), on grounds it would provided “substandard dimensions of accommodation” and I think this build should have been refused on similar grounds quite honestly. It’s pure profiteering by whichever of the homeowners either side used their land to build it on. It’s not providing affordable accommodation for a family or a starter home for anyone on an average wage is it?

HungryHippo11 · 18/09/2021 06:18

I think its super cute and the sort of place I would love to stay in as an airbnb, but no way would I buy it.

custardbear · 18/09/2021 06:26

It's cute but I'd feel claustrophobic. Price I guess is what it's like in london. It's always going to look odd though, like it's been squished in to make a profit, not a hone

TheWeatherWitch · 18/09/2021 06:34

Too small. Over priced. Way too close to neighbours. Dreadful looking property.

That’s what I think.

Humblpi · 18/09/2021 06:34

Its nice enough but no, i'd give them 110k.

Spiindoctor · 18/09/2021 06:46

I'm suspicious of the bright rooms - you have two other houses right beside the roof lights which would surely cast shade. So check which way it faces as the north side needs to be adjoining the house next door so then you get light front and back depending on the time of day.

If the garden is as wide as the house then that garden in the pic looks suspiciously wide. Maybe they stole some space from next door but otherwise how come it's so big.

Onlinedilema · 18/09/2021 06:52

It's a no from me.
Looks like it's been rammed in between the other houses.
The bedroom looks like a sauna.
I think the estate agent would drop down dead with excitement if they saw the beautiful parks around my house. Can't say my transport links are 'magnificent' though😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Persipan · 18/09/2021 07:00

I'm fairly sure that most of the garden is wider than the house. Hence the garden room being wider than the main house. It looks to me as though the house on one side of it retained the part of their garden immediately behind their house, and then the rest of it formed the garden for this house.

FurierTransform · 18/09/2021 08:02

I don't like it & I don't understand the high price either. It's in Twickenham, not central London, so it doesn't even make sense as a 4/5 night a week work pad.
