We viewed 7 , different area, older house, built 1964, big corner property 4 beds, study, love the position of it, bought several years ago, but hoping to move and downsize in 2023, if everything goes as planned,

This house -3 others. All well done but quite small and rooms were tiny, this house was an absolute wreck but lovely size & quiet street so we bought it. 6 years on and we still haven’t finished doing it but it’s getting there.

Roselilly36 · 29/08/2021 12:10

10, we have recently downsized.

MyFloorIsLava · 29/08/2021 12:11

Viewed ours, rejected it.
Viewed one, too small.
Viewed one, offered, outbid.
Viewed one, offered, accepted, developers fucked around so badly we told them to stick it and went back to House 1. Happy days, its a great house and was 70k cheaper.

ComeonJulia · 29/08/2021 12:12

The house we’ve just bought was the 3rd we had viewed.

thequeenofsandwich · 29/08/2021 12:14

We put our previous house up for sale because we had seen our perfect home...
It was taken of the market
We viewed approximately 15 more but nothing matched up . The day ours sold we had a call to say the first house was back on the market, were we still interested ?
We moved within 6 weeks. Been here 14 years
Hope to stay forever

OwlBasket · 29/08/2021 12:20

None. This one was in the same street as we were renting, we’d already identified it as the nicest house in the street but had little hope of it becoming available. TBH we’d have happily offered without viewing, it has identical layout to our rental, is on the same side of the road, but very well looked after and much more sympathetically renovated. Beautiful mature garden too. I consider us to very, very lucky.

Alarae · 29/08/2021 12:20

Our first house was a one and done. Didn't even explore the area before we completed and were happily surprised that the town precinct was 5 mins walk away! Lucked out on that one.

Current house was around the 17th house we viewed. Actually went on the market to buy a different house but the sellers (divorcing couple) couldn't agree on our offer. We did t want to pay any more so we left it. Viewed absolutely anything that was somewhat in our criteria but nothing was working. Our buyer had been waiting about 3 weeks by this point and when I was away for studying in London ended up spotting a house which had been relisted (and I had discounted previously).

Arranged a viewing the next evening, loved it, walked 10 seconds to the car and called the agent and put a full asking offer in which was accepted 30 mins later.

Absolutely love our house. It's better than the house we initially wanted to buy and will not be moving from for a very long time. Unless we win the lottery Grin

GnomeDePlume · 29/08/2021 12:21

Two. We were moving back from living abroad and so needed something which was available immediately. Chose this one because it had the right number of bedrooms and the orientation of the back garden.

Been here 15 years.

Babdoc · 29/08/2021 12:24

This was the second one we viewed. But I knew it was ours as soon as I saw the estate agent’s particulars that DH brought home (pre internet - it was all paper and a blurry photo in those days!)
Bought it in 1983. Extended it, raised two DC, been bereaved, empty nested, still here nearly 40 years later.

Bluntness100 · 29/08/2021 12:27

Nine or ten, all over one weekend, this was the last one we viewed at the end of the two days and it was always my favourite.

PickAChew · 29/08/2021 12:29
  1. This was the 3rd out of the 6 and one of 2 favourites. The other favourite turned out to be disappointing, when we viewed it. This one was in worse condition than expected but dh went from only agreeing to view it because I pestered him to realising that nothing else compared.
RevolvingPivot · 29/08/2021 12:30

0 - we bought it before it was built.

trevthecat · 29/08/2021 12:30

We viewed 11 but we bought the 2nd. We already knew we would but needed to be sure!

ChittyChittyBoomBoom · 29/08/2021 12:30

I only viewed this house! I’d been watching the market obsessively for 9 months, knew exactly what I wanted and in which area. I just knew from the information on Rightmove that it would be perfect…and it was!

LubaLuca · 29/08/2021 12:32

None. This was the only one available in the location we wanted that was big enough, and we had to move quickly.

MauveMavis · 29/08/2021 12:35

Too many when I bought this flat. About 15.

I looked at three properties in this building alone. I still think I found the best flat for me though!

CrimeJunkie01 · 29/08/2021 12:35

This was the 3rd house we viewed. There was hardly anything on the marlet, this was put of our price range and put of the area we wanted and I booked to see it in desperation to just see what other houses looked like. I fell in love with it and pestered DP until we bought it. I've been here 6 years, I hope to never move again.

Contactlesslenses · 29/08/2021 12:48

This house was the second we viewed, the first was a few doors down on the same road. We liked the house and planned to stay about 5 years as it’s quite small. Nearly 20 years later we are still here..

We are in the process of moving and had an offer accepted on the 5th house we viewed. Unfortunately our seller can’t find anywhere and 3 months later we are still waiting for the chain to complete. Really worried that the sale will fall through, we have really fallen for the house and location and there’s nothing else we like currently on the market.

PlanDeRaccordement · 29/08/2021 12:52

We moved here for the superior schools. And at the time, only 2 were available that were big enough for family of six. There was a 3 storey new build and a 200yr old farmhouse. We went with the farmhouse because the floor plan was a better and the rooms all of a good size.

Mrbob · 29/08/2021 12:53

Only this one. Wasn’t even seriously looking. Saw it online. Viewed next afternoon. Offer in about 16 hours later. Done

DaphneduM · 29/08/2021 13:04

We just viewed the one house that we live in now. Did loads of drive-by's and ruled out other houses. This one had everything I could have wished for - twenty years old but new kitchen and bathrooms - really spacious and light and in a beautiful area but with all amenities on our doorstep. Half an hour from a city too. Perfect for what will hopefully be our last move. I feel very fortunate and happy. All done two years ago - so glad we moved then - although there wasn't a massive amount on the market, it was calmer than at present!

readytosell · 29/08/2021 13:07

Current one (that I'm now selling), I actually saw it first but didn't end up buying it until a year later (seller very deluded about price!). Saw another half dozen or so between that period. Good decision, but ready to move on.

House I'm in process of buying, was 3rd one I saw. I did see a couple after as sellers were taking ages to find onward purchase.

RogersVideo · 29/08/2021 13:09

6 or 7. Offered on 3 of them but only the 7th house worked out. Hopefully completing in a few weeks!

longtompot · 29/08/2021 13:22

1st house - beautiful in the photos, far to small in real life. Loved the south facing garden.
2nd house - needed oh so much work doing and was very overpriced.
3rd house - really nice, but the bedroom extension was really narrow and long. Kitchen was also an awkward shape.
4th house - could have worked but a bit over our budget and too far out of town.
5th house - overly big bathroom with a strange long but narrow bedroom in the extension. Garden too overlooked and too small.
6th house - really lovely, but terraced and was a bit to small for our needs.
7th house - pretty much the same as the one we bought, but without the extension and a far too small awkward garden. It was due to taking my parents to see this one that they knew we were looking and found our house. A lucky escape as the next door neighbour and daughter were killed by a family member last year.
8th house - the one we bought. First to see, put in full asking price offer which was accepted. Been here 5 years now.

Writing it down I didn't realise quite how many we'd seen.
