I don't live in Kidderminster nor know the specifics of different parts of it, but it is a small town near to West Midlands Safari Park.

What do the bad reviews say? As it certainly doesn't have the issues of large city gangs.

lorianne2409 · 27/06/2021 17:31

hiya , basically that its not very nice to stay away etc , we just looking for some more incite in helping us make our decision , it would be a big move and we just dont want to make a mistake.

I suppose these things are relative. Kidde's not bad (I don't think), just sad. The town trade used to be carpets but when that left it wasn't really replaced so the town is a bit run down ... but then so are lots of towns these days.
Have you looked at employment opportunities there?
The schools don't look brilliant.

exLtEveDallas · 27/06/2021 18:51

Can you be any more specific? I’m in DY11 so know a lot of the area well, but it’s a huge district (and schools vary a lot, again it depends where you are)
Happy for you to say by PM if you don’t want to say on page.

exLtEveDallas · 27/06/2021 18:52

Oh and KiddyLad is a nob that doesn’t live in Kiddi 🤦‍♀️

Shadowboy · 27/06/2021 19:00

Kiddi is a bit bland and I personally wouldn’t want to live there but the surrounding countryside is amazing. Kiddi has everything you need it’s just not very attractive. I live 35 min away for context.

It's fine, not amazing but certainly not awful

TragicRabbit · 27/06/2021 19:18

I’m sitting in DY10 right now and I love it Grin
Yes, it’s seen better days but there are some lovely areas nearby; woods, pretty canal walks and parks. You’re also mid way between Worcester and Birmingham.
The people here are really friendly and warm. No gangs Smile
You could do a lot worse.

exLtEveDallas · 27/06/2021 19:21

Have PMd you back OP, hope it helps.

Littlefish · 27/06/2021 19:29

Schools are variable.

Message me for more info! I live in the area.

lorianne2409 · 27/06/2021 19:30

I live in this general area. Depends where in DY10, if the Rifle Range then not great.

Kidderminster in general is fab though, fantastic scenery all around, not far from Worcester and Birmingham. Town centre itself is tired but we never go there to shop.

Some schools are great, some not so great. Not much crime, certainly not gang related.

TiltTopTable · 27/06/2021 19:38

Kiddi has ok areas and not so okay areas. It doesn't really have good areas. The town centre is run down with lots of empty shops. On a brighter note the locals are generally friendly.

BanditoShipman · 27/06/2021 19:39

DY10 has £400k houses in it so would think not too bad (£400k is a lot for the Midlands). Whereabouts in DY10?

exLtEveDallas · 27/06/2021 19:40

Ha! Bloody Roadmen 😂. Don’t worry OP, up this neck of the woods they are just wannabes, they’d run as soon as you looked at them!

That is not true, it has some very good areas.
BanditoShipman · 27/06/2021 19:43

Very good areas: eg Whitehill Road

I've name changed just for you @lorianne2409. I'm not from kiddy but have lived here for many years. Dy10 varies a bit. The Horsefair area and Cherry Orchard has some issues but there are some lovely areas within that postcode too. There are tons of nice green spaces, lots of shops easy to access...schools are ok. Not amazing but ok. Easy access to beautiful countryside as well as Birmingham and other more urban areas. Can get a train to London direct too.

It has fabulous steam train and safari park and new leisure centre and parks and lots of nice things for kids.

Downside is I don't think it's very aspirational. People come from here and stay here and are quite insular but they are nice people largely I have found as an incomer. That said , I am white and it's not very diverse.

I would never have picked it here...I came because I had to but then it's kept me here. I love the nearby forest and it's quite an easy place really. Come have look I would say. I have always felt it's fairly safe, though like anywhere there are some drugs and issues around.

bunnybuggs · 27/06/2021 19:45

just to mention - access to the Severn Valley Railway
Kidderminster is on the mainline between Worcester (and points west to Hereford) and Birmingham and the North.
It has its problems but again it is mostly low level crime and some parts are nice.

lorianne2409 · 27/06/2021 20:06

im really shocked how fast and friendly everyone's responses have been , being the first time ive used this haha
