What's like Karndean but affordable?

I'm in love with some wood effect Karndean but it's £££ and the fitting on top is eye watering!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Polyflor very happy with mine

Look for luxury vinyl flooring - Karndean is just one make and it's one of the more expensive ones

I have a client that is currently in the process of fitting LV parquet from here

https://www.luxuryflooringandfurnishings.co.uk/vinyl-flooring.html?utmsource=Luxury+Flooring+Newsletter+UK&utmmcampaign=df6dc9c736-EMAILCAMPAIGNN20210441308821&utmmedium=email&utmmterm=0e1c3614ca1-df6dc9c736-166847352

So far very happy with it and it's just a bit cheaper

It's being fitted as part of the building contract for the whole refurbishment so can't comment on fitting costs.

Polyflor Camaro

tanstaafl · 13/05/2021 18:56

The Quickstep LVT range should be worth a look.
We put down the click fit , rather than the glued range.
Soon as I felt the weight of the box you realise there’s quality in there, imo

VaccineMcQueen · 13/05/2021 19:01

We are going with old fashioned cushion vinyl! It's a 3rd of the price of LVT, can be fitted in an hour and comes with a 10 year guarantee!

MitMopse · 13/05/2021 19:08

We have just had Coretec fitted, cheaper than Karndean. It's lovely but too early to tell if it is going to be as hard wearing as I hope...

MarshmallowsOnToast · 13/05/2021 19:13

Polyflor Camaro as pp said.

We had it put down in a busy office at work and I rolled over it on my chair for years and it looked brand new.

So when we had our floor done, there was no question we would have Polyflor.

In a kitchen diner & hallway it was £1400 fitted.

We had smoked brushed elm and love it!

Following with interest. I viewed a house once with Amtico flooring which looked fab but then I found out how much it cost. I think Karndean is slightly cheaper than that. I saw some Harvey Maria samples in a shop window the other day which looked nice but I don’t know if they are similar price or not

TurnStone · 13/05/2021 19:23

Polyflor, just had it installed throughout our bungalow - based on its hard wearing qualities, scratch resistance and looking like new - after living with it on our narrowboat for 4 years ( wet, muddy, gravelly boots etc)

dalrympy · 13/05/2021 22:38

I also have polyflor Camaro. It's bombproof

wtheck · 14/05/2021 06:46

Thanks - iI'll check out the suggestions.

It feels like a ridiculously hard decision for some reason.

It's expensive, but so worth it! So hard wearing.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 14/05/2021 06:59

Coretec. We had it put down throughout the downstairs 3 years ago, still looks great and is so easy to clean. Just about to have it put in the bathrooms.

whereiscaroline · 14/05/2021 07:01

My flooring guy has recommended J2 Flooring as identical spec to Amtico at a much lower price. Haven't had it installed yet though so can't confirm on how well it lasts.

whereiscaroline · 14/05/2021 07:02

I should say, I have Karndean and don't really like it. It dents if you drop things on it, and looks really dirty a lot of the time in sunlight. The little crevices make it hard to properly and thoroughly clean it.

40somethingJBJ · 14/05/2021 07:52

Check out Endura - I got mine from Discount Flooring Depot online. It’s really nice quality and looks absolutely fab down in my conservatory. My floor fitter was impressed with it as well. I’m going for the same brand when I do my kitchen in a couple of months.

Paddingtonthebear · 15/05/2021 09:46

What’s the pricing like?

We are looking at LVT for a small cottage, just in the hall area which tbh is tiny, and in a small living room.

I'm another fan of polyfloor camaro . We had it in our last house and it looked great. We had excellent fitters (makes a big difference!). He had just fitted the same floor in his dads house, so if it was good enough for family.....

muckypaws · 15/05/2021 22:20

A couple of years ago we bought a whole load of LVT Moduleo from Ebay, left over from a contract job. We needed a bit more so bought that at full price, but most of it was very cheap.

Allsizes8to14 · 15/05/2021 22:32

Another vote for polyflor, have it in a few rooms in different styles and has proved hard wearing, as good as new after 5yrs. We also have some ‘Lifestyle floors’ LVT which isn’t as good, hard wearing enough generally but scratches more easily than polyflor of bit of grit under a chair leg for example

SnarkyBag · 15/05/2021 22:37

We have quickstep it looks as good as the karndean we have in the conservatory IMO

fredberr · 19/05/2021 10:35

A few places locally sell Coretec but none of them fit it and say they struggle to find someone who can! 😩

wohmum · 19/05/2021 10:56

We’ve used moduleo, very similar but a bit cheaper

depressedor · 19/05/2021 19:36

Are you all using polyflor camaro in kitchens and is it ok if gets wet and with underfloor heating?
