Ruggable rugs

I am looking to replace our large living room rug with one from ruggable - main factor being because they are washable.

They are fairly pricey - if you have one, would you recommend? Are there any decent alternatives?

Bump. Looking at Ruggable as well – would love to hear some reviews.

TommyShelby · 26/04/2021 14:11

@misty1000 I might just bite the bullet... I’ll report back if I do get one 😂

Ooh also very interested! Please do report back

GlassGlobe · 19/06/2021 13:01

@TommyShelby Did you get one in the end?

TommyShelby · 19/06/2021 22:01

@GlassGlobe haven’t yet, it’s been chaos here (4 month old) but it’s on my to do list! 😂

Right! Rug ordered and en route so I’ll put it to the test and report baxk

Did you get a Star Wars one? Grin

TommyShelby · 31/08/2021 12:49

Unfortunately not 😂 the decor of this Death Star is more of a ‘cosy neutral’ aesthetic rather than ‘take over the galaxy stumpy storm trooper’ if you get me 😂

I've been looking at them too. They do seem fabulous and perfect if you have pets. I'm worried about the under mat on Amtico.

TommyShelby · 04/09/2021 16:50

Right, I can report now!

Rug took about a week or so to come and came in a easy to handle box

The mat comes rolled up inside the patterned bit and is almost Velcro in texture on the top and then normal grippy rug material on the back. Laying the patterned bit took us a bit of time to line up and get straight but it wasn’t difficult, just fiddly trying to get it all level!

Obviously I’ve not washed it yet (probably won’t be too long with two spaniels and a seven month old) but so far, I’m quite impressed!

I’m considering one too. I have moduelo LV flooring, not sure if I can put a rug on it long term though.
@TommyShelby - are you glad you went for it? Does it look good? Not curl up?

TommyShelby · 26/09/2021 18:55

@Justnotfeelingit it does look good - suits the room. It’s a bit harder than normal rugs but that maybe because I’ve just replaced a rug with a really thick pile that caught every cat hair in creation.

It doesn’t curl at all, it has little pockets which you tuck the pad in that also hold it down. Despite being very light, the pad doesn’t move at all and because it’s almost Velcro’d on, the rug is really solid.

We’ve also washed this one after a stinky spaniel decided to roll mud all over it. It washed very easily and we hung it out to dry where it dried 80% and then finished in the tumble dryer. It does say you can dry it completely in the dryer but hey, the sun was out so it was going out to dry 😂

Dont they come in from the USA? Were you charged at customs?

Justnotfeelingit · 26/09/2021 20:23

Thanks @TommyShelby.

I have two ruggable rugs! Really happy with them. They look great. Haven’t washed yet. I don’t think they are pricey, I have a 2x3m rug which cost about £400, a ‘proper’ rug of that size is easily double that… I did not have any customs fees.

InTheLibrary · 26/09/2021 20:41

We ordered one, it was nice in quality and idea but not perfect for the space. Returned it but had to pay a return fee - would put me off ordering again.

We're you charged customs fees?
TommyShelby · 27/09/2021 01:26

I wasn’t charged any customs fees and it came from Indianapolis to the uk

Hey all, anyone got any updates on ruggable rugs? Are they washing ok? Thinking of going for it

Sd352 · 21/11/2021 20:40

We have two. One (a faux Persian design) washes great and looks like the real thing from a distance. The other, a Moroccan style shaggy one, didn’t fare quite so well in the wash but still pretty decent. We have a very muddy puppy so they are a godsend — just throw them in the washing machine and tumble dryer and it’s all good.

We tried a French Connection cotton rug as well, which looked great, but it shrank in the wash and feels much less substantial.

Nannylp · 21/11/2021 20:47

Yes! I ummed and ahhed about getting one for a long time but finally gave in and I couldn't be happier. It arrived reasonably quickly from USA, no customs charges. The rug itself looks great and with the cushioned mat it's firm enough for my toddler to play on but soft enough for when he inevitably falls over. I've washed and dried it in the machine a couple of times with no problems at all.
My rug was slightly damaged when it arrived but the customer service was amazing, sent a new rug and cushioned mat immediately and didn't need to return the damaged one. I've repaired the damage myself so now have a spare!
I was concerned that it was a bit gimmicky, especially considering how much Facebook has been marketing them to me but so far so good!

Hi I’m getting Amtico flooring for my house and was thinking of putting a Ruggable rug and rug pad on it but am worried about whether it will cause discolouration of the Amtico. Anyone with LVT flooring (Amtico/Karndean) got a Ruggable rug and how have you found it?

thank you.

CaronPoivre · 15/11/2022 19:38

I thought about one for the studio were having built for the children to stay with their partners and dogs. I wondered whether they’d be too thin and curl up at edges.

Might look again now.

Dippydonky · 15/11/2022 19:40

Oooo! Watching this thread! I’ve been pondering these and they appear to be stalking my Facebook feed!

Anoooshka · 15/11/2022 20:21

I have one, but I wouldn't recommend it. I've washed it a couple of times, and we don't use shoes in the house, but the rug has discoloured and doesn't look great. Also, each time that we separate the two parts of the rug, it sheds loads of black particles from the backing. It's now in the basement while I decide what to do with it. Most likely it's going in the bin.
