Nearly £1.5M for one bathroom and a lifetime of constipation

This should be beautiful but, aside from being on the gloomy side, all I can think of is the number of spiders, especially those waiting to drop on me from the bathroom ceiling: www.themodernhouse.com/sales-list/st-thomass-church/

It's grim, too warehousey!

Handsnotwands · 19/04/2021 21:46

It’s awful. Churches are notoriously difficult to convert and that one proves the point further

Check out the stairs on this other MH listing. Duck me, it’s made me dizzy looking at a photo www.themodernhouse.com/sales-list/powis-mews/

Thanks for posting OP - I used to work near there and always wondered what it was like inside (a friend told me it was an apartment/ house but could never quite believe it!) Its the most fantastic location bang in middle of the City; it will suit some banker down to a T but it’s a bit cold and hard for my liking.

JustTurtlesAllTheWayDown · 19/04/2021 21:50

Oh wow. I love that. The price is for history and location rather than accommodation but I really like it. Seems I'm in the minority though!

RolloverRollover · 19/04/2021 22:00

I love them both !

PixellatedPixie · 19/04/2021 22:06

I love the first one but if you’re in the kitchen and need a wee, you’d have to trek up four flights of stairs! I would’ve made the bathroom somewhere lower down!

BackforGood · 19/04/2021 22:07

Whatever happened to the concept of a house being a home, rather than an architect's plaything ?
I'd hate to be made to live in either of those, regardless of price.

Larach · 19/04/2021 22:10

I guess anyone who has £1.5M can probably afford a plasterer. Grin

Oh God, that staircase in the second one! I had to flatten myself against the wall coming down stairs in a lighthouse once but they don't even have a wall. Terrifying.

My thoughts exactly.
CheerfulBunny · 20/04/2021 10:52

It's so dark. Not sure about the bathroom at all.. would be like having a shower in a cowshed on the set of All Creatures Great and Small.

alpenguin · 20/04/2021 10:58

It looks cold.

minimemomi · 20/04/2021 11:04

I get that it's made from a church but I really only see sex dungeon and now can't shake the idea

BitOfFun · 20/04/2021 11:12

Open concept, clear sightlines...bang on trend!

DoubleTweenQueen · 20/04/2021 11:24

It's a characterful bolt hole for one/two in the centre of the city, when you have a nice home in the country. Preferable to all the modern flats being thrown up everywhere you look. I'm sure someone will love it .

DoubleTweenQueen · 20/04/2021 11:26

@minimemomi You do realise that throws you in an 'interesting' light? Chortle

greyspottedgoose · 20/04/2021 11:28

The link doesn't work for me can someone else please share 😁

NutellaEllaElla · 20/04/2021 11:29

It looks like it would be absolutely freezing no matter how much you spend on trying to heat it. The bathroom is creepy as hell too.

DoubleTweenQueen · 20/04/2021 11:30

Powis Mews - thought it was quite cute until I clocked the asking price Shock

Laquila · 20/04/2021 11:41

Ahh I love the Modern House - it is batshit 😁 (and presumably insanely profitable, so what do I know...)

How come there's no photo of the recently-added roof terrace though?? And that is an absolute shitload of stairs.

Alsohuman · 20/04/2021 12:11

It looks so dark. Surely you’d put a white kitchen in to maximise the light, wouldn’t you?

Laquila · 20/04/2021 13:11

I probably would, @Alsohuman, but I'm the kind of person that looks at that listing and thinks the brickwork would be a bugger to clean, so I'm probably not the target market 😁

Having said that, I actually think the kitchen that's in there looks great, despite general gloomyness.

chesirecat99 · 20/04/2021 13:31

Ooh, it's the Old Operating Theatre church. You might have some permanent ghostly tenants.

Puffthemagicdragongoestobed · 20/04/2021 13:52

Oh gosh, I am sure I once went to this church for a weight watchers meeting during my lunch time back in the noughties.
Not sure I would want to live in this location to be honest, but then again I prefer suburban bliss!

AngusThermopyle · 20/04/2021 13:54

1.5m LEASEHOLD 😂
