All the cutlery sticks to them...

thegcatsmother · 14/04/2021 22:40

My kitchen is Magnet, and is now 22 years old. It has survived us and 13 years of the house being let out.

HappyTimeTunnelDinosaur · 14/04/2021 23:04

We used them last year, they were brilliant, great quality, decent price and I love my new kitchen. Just hope it lasts as long as @thegcatsmother 's!

mermaidsariel · 14/04/2021 23:06

Watching with interest

CherryJane · 14/04/2021 23:09

Yes. We used them 3 years ago.
Excellent service. We're still happy with the kitchen. Really fast and helpful when our fitter dropped a door and damaged it.

Magnet trade was excellent fir extra bits too like flooring.

RandomMess · 14/04/2021 23:09

Ours is 6 years old still happy with it.

Toddlerteaplease · 15/04/2021 13:19

Great thanks. They tracking it will be about £3000 to use their fitters. Is that about average?

The factory assembled magnet kitchens come out as best buy on Which?. I'm thinking of using them myself, even though 30 years ago after horrific experience with them over a conservatory I swore i wouldn't.
But you have to get a really good fitter - I paid my last one about £1500 to fit Howden mid size kitchen including plumbing in washer amd dishwasher and doing something a bit complicated with the work surface. Outside London.

RandomMess · 15/04/2021 15:03

Our builders fitted ours, fairly small £1k

ChocolateDeficitDisorder · 15/04/2021 15:15

My MIL got a Magnet kitchen last year, one of the cheaper flat-pack ranges.

It's junk, flimsy and has had many repairs. Very poor quality for a price which would have bought a better kitchen from another company.

RandomMess · 15/04/2021 16:01

Ours is one of the higher end and came ready built.

Cowbells · 15/04/2021 16:12

My sister had an appalling experience with Magnet. The kitchen didn't fit, drawer fronts and the dishwasher front fell off within a few weeks. She called and called them and they kept promising to put it right but never did. Put me off them forever. I don't trust the company ethos. I think they just want to squeeze money out of you and don't care about quality or service.

mermaidsariel · 15/04/2021 20:55

My parents got their kitchen done about fifteen years ago . It still looks great. Don’t know what they’re like now though.

MilduraS · 15/04/2021 21:03

We went with DIY kitchens because they were so much cheaper than magnet. Although we love our kitchen, our friends' new magnet kitchen is so much nicer. Everything feels a bit more luxurious and their designer spent a lot of time asking questions that transformed their plans. A couple of problems on delivery were fixed much faster too. If I had the chance to go back and do it again, I'd spend the extra on Magnet.

Toddlerteaplease · 15/04/2021 22:14

I want a company that will do everything, tiling etc. My sister is having hers from B&Q. But having to get separate people in to do the extras. I can't be bothered with that!

Me too.

SusannaMorvern · 15/04/2021 22:31

Ours is 9yrs old and it is the only white gloss furniture in our house that hasn't yellowed. It was expensive, but did also survive our house being rented out for 5yrs. All the baskets and pullouts are still working fine. The only thing that has got damaged was the plinth under the sink peeled when we had a leak, although the cupboard survived. The plinth was easily replaced.

MaryIsA · 16/04/2021 07:57

We got a bunch of quotes and designs from kitchen places. Magnets was about a 1/3 more and the fitting was extortionate. A friend who useD them fitting out a commercial premise said they expect you to bargain it down. I just couldn’t be arsed, we are going with a cheaper local company.

hollygoflightly · 17/04/2021 22:38

We're v happy with our Magnet kitchen! Got it done last Oct, all good so far. The designer really knew what she was doing. Think their quote to fit was around £3k but we got our builders to do it.

mermaidsariel · 18/04/2021 08:37

How much did the actual kitchen cost and what have people paid for the fitting if arranged themselves?

RampantIvy · 18/04/2021 08:44

They did our kitchen in a house in 1994, and did a brilliant job. We didn't need new tiles, but they also did the electrics and plumbing. I would use them again if they are still as good as they were then.

hollygoflightly · 18/04/2021 21:41

@mermaidsariel - think our kitchen was about £5k. Not including worktop or appliances. Our builders charged about £1800 for the fit.

Lottle · 19/04/2021 06:39

They were nearly double the price of diy kitchens for us (£9000 v 4500) exc fitting etc. So we never got any further!

Toddlerteaplease · 19/04/2021 07:58

I e also got an appointment at Wicks, anyone got an experience of them?

ChocolateDeficitDisorder · 20/04/2021 06:43

I did lots of research about 4 years ago and finally opted for this company

No regrets, the kitchen is still looking great.
