Is it a brothel?

First post so not sure which category to put it! Forgive me.

In ten days time I'm moving into my new home situated in a pleasant little market town on the outskirts.

It's a lovely well maintained detached 1930's property and I'm so exciting to move because we're currently in a much smaller house with two teen girls and 3 cats.

Sounds great so far?

BUT!!

I've just discovered that an empty commercial property situated five doors down is opening as a Thai massage parlour.

Fuck! Now I've totally blown my beans imagining hordes of horny buggers with tent pole trousers double parking down the street looking for a massage with a 'happy ending'.

OR

Is it a perfectly serene place of tranquility where a lovely aromatherapy massage is offered to the gentle reverberating ommmm chants of Buddhist monks with no need of a spunkerchief bin by the end of the massage couch.

Please give thoughts.. I'm shatting my pants!

how some of you operate in a civilised society I'll never know.

With the help of their solicitors presumably.

What a shit show of racial bias, discrimination and privilege.

I’m not sure where the moral outrage about posters talking about this is coming from. Massage parlours are often used as fronts for brothels, that’s a known fact. You can simultaneously be horrified by prostitution and human trafficking and not want to live near a potential brothel. Most posters have said the massage parlours near them are legitimate and shared their experience of that.

It could be perfectly innocent or not - I’m not entirely sure how you’d find out either way tbh! On that basis, personally I’d go ahead with the property purchase otherwise you’ll loose a property you love based on an unknown ‘maybe’?

If it makes you feel any better, it’s likely you’ll be clueless if it is! I know I had no idea. Directly behind our house is a very respectable Edwardian house and I only found out 2 years ago that the local prostitute (very nice single Mum just doing what she needs to do to get by according to the people who live in the house next door to it) rents out the top floor flat for her work. All her clients enter through the back gate. I have clocked blokes staring at the house and then looking at their phones or at a piece of paper before they head round the back but if I’d not known I’d have thought nothing of it. It’s all very discreet and doesn’t affect us in the least!

I'm not morally outraged by prostitution, I used to be an actual prostitute. But the automatic assumption that Thai women doing massage means the place is a brothel is ridiculous. Most brothels don't use massage as a front, and most massage places are not brothels. Most people living next to a brothel wouldn't even notice until they were told.

We had loads of brothels around us when we lived in a very naice city.

Had a hilarious conversation once with a posh neighbour, who was complaining that the male sauna in the tenement block was being converted into a swinger's club... apparently, brothel was fine, less happy about a club atmosphere.

Lol, if you'd ever had a Thai massage then you'd know that there's nothing "gentle" about it Grin

Don't blame him, amateurs are a nightmare Grin

Wait until it is open and then look on the sites with saunas offering extras....' punternet' i think is one and see if it appears !...there is a place about 10 mins from me and been there for years...its obvious what it is...its in a parade of shops....not aware of any issues....
