Do you have a hob on your island?

Does it work well? Do you hate it?

Planning our new kitchen. I wanted the island clear but might have to compromise and have a hob on it.

Yes and I love it. I spend the most time in the kitchen at any one time at the hob and it’s so nice to not be staring at a wall. Instead I can chat to people, look out of the bifolds etc. I guess it’s the equivalent of when sinks were always under the window, to make washing up more enjoyable.

Yes I do, induction hob, with the pop up Neff extractor. I’d recommend the pop up type as if you’re cooking something splattery the extractor protects the people sat on the other side! It’s sociable when cooking, able to watch tv etc as facing out to the room. I would only put one on a big island though. And if you’re having seating remember to put overhang on the island worktop!
