F&B Sudbury Yellow?

Candleabra · 12/01/2021 19:45

India yellow (I think this is also farrow and ball)

ShellieEllie · 12/01/2021 21:10

Crown paint - old gold.

helly29 · 12/01/2021 22:48

I'm planning on farrow and ball hay (probably colour matched!) for our new west facing living room.

QuothTheSlothNevermore · 12/01/2021 22:50

We painted ours in F&B yellow ground and loved it!

ComtesseDeSpair · 12/01/2021 23:22

I’ve just finished painting over the Graham&Brown ā€˜Toucan’ we inherited because I dislike yellow, but several people who saw it beforehand said it was an unusual shade and they liked it.

Completey random but is yellow a good idea to paint in a home? Im sure when i studied art it is known to cause anger and anxious feelings and is not deemed a good colour for inside a house.

Honeyroar · 12/01/2021 23:27

Half my house has been yellow for years. I find it a sunny, cheerful colour. There are lots of creamy yellows too, it doesn’t have to be citrus or fluro.

parietal · 12/01/2021 23:29

F&B citron is great in my child's north facing bedroom. It is not at all lemony (despite the name) but is rich & sunny.

Really??? I've had a yellow lounge for more than 10 years. I absolutely love it! My favourite room in the house.

Helly29. We had F&B Hay colour matched at the B&Q mixing desk with Valspar paint. Like it so much we now have a hay bedroom as well as hay hall. Beautiful colour.

We recently painted our lounge in F&B Sudbury Yellow and I love it!

Maybe go pale yellow. Apparently babies cry more in yellow rooms so dont invite babies round Grin

Lockdowndramaqueen · 15/01/2021 22:07

Thankfully I am past the baby years now. Love the look of Sudbury but will be checking out the other suggestions too. Thank you.

Cheapo's suggestion but I painted my living room in Wilko's retro yellow

cunningplan101 · 16/01/2021 11:59

We have a spare room/study in F&B Babouche up to the picture rail with white above and on the ceiling. I really like it. We always find ourselves calling it 'the yellow room'.

sluj · 23/01/2021 09:29

I am seriously considering Sudbury yellow for our living room which is very light but faces NW - lovely sunset views though. I won't put it on all the walls though - can anyone recommend a neutral stone/beige/cream for the other walls? I'd love to see photos of Sudbury in your rooms if anyone is willing. Thank you

That really is lovely swingometer. Can I ask a few questions?
Do you have it on every wall and if so, do you think its a bit overpowering or would you do it again?
What direction does your room face as yours looks a very cosy yellow, which is lovely?
Is it easy to live with? ( I'm usually very neutral so a bit nervous )
Thank you

Swingometer · 23/01/2021 16:59

Thanks @sluj

Its a large room, North facing but gets lots of light as there are big patio doors and also velux windows where we had the room extended a few years back

All walls are yellow but it is split by white in the middle of the room where there are pillars and a beam where the room was extended, this breaks the yellow up a bit and I'm glad we did that (you can see in the second pic)

The room was only painted in early December so early days but I have absolutely no regrets so far. It was all white previously so a big difference to before but I honestly can't imagine it being white now

sluj · 23/01/2021 17:32

Thanks Swingometer, the white makes it look really fresh and modern compared to some other colours I've seen it paired with. Its a very versatile colour, I think. My room is average size but has 2 floor to ceiling windows so its never been dark. Hopefully it will look as lovely as yours Smile

Dayroom Yellow by Farrow and Ball = the living room in my old house was painted in it and I loved it. I really miss the colour and as soon as I can afford to get the rooms in my new house painted I will be using it for my bedroom and kitchen.
